Ever since I saw the card on the spoiler for Future Sight I've been entirely fascinated by it. Even to the point where I prayed I would see Obliterate on the 10th Edition card list because at that point you've got yourself a tier 1 deck. Turn 3 Jhoira, Turn 4 Suspend big guy and Obliterate. Board goes away on turn 8 and your left with a big baddie with which to beat your way to the game win. Unfortunately, Obliterate didnt make the cut and that particular idea was scraped.
Where that leaves me is this, Block Constructed is the best indicator if what decks will be big at state championships in October. Baring a supremely powerful card in Lorewind we are going to wind up with a farely similar metagame. That being said, I know with what is available it is possible to make a deck that Jhoira is incredibly synergistic with. Even with Obliterate I dont get the feeling that Jhoira by herself is capable of winning games for you, and that being said she isnt quality enough to be the cornerstone for any deck. But a UR Control deck using various cards that have synergy with Jhoira, and cards that allow Jhoira to pop off large spells in succession seems like a feasible thing. Venser, Teferi, Jhoira, Gargadon, the split second Confiscate, the new Armageddon, etc. etc. etc.
Does anybody have any idea they think are worth voicing? |

Jhoria essentially does one thing: She allows you to power out big spells at a cheaper cost. Unfortunately, there is another way to accelerate into huge bombs in this format which is much more resilient - Coalition Relic. While you're hoping a jhoria goes off, your opponent can be playing a much more solid and consistent game doing the same thing, without using her.
The only other thing she's good for is ripping out quick chroniclers and detrivores, but imho that alone doesn't do enough most of the time. |

The problem with suspend in General is Teferi. Teferi is played often almost in any kind of control deck and in addition Jhoira say play your guys on turn 9 at best, those things say it will be hard to build an deck around her cause on turn 9 you should be able to play anything anyway. She could be good for turn 9 storm maybe but thats all not that great. If you play with ug/unh though there could be some fun with gleemax or the Mox Lotus . Yea and in exteneded you can try oberlitarte sway of the stars... Whatever you go into i wish you fun |

| Ok, a couple things here. First off, the deck will not be requiring Jhoira of the Ghitu to win games. I dont see the deck as being Jhoira Combo, I see it as being UR Control. Secondly, they deck should, and will be playing counter spells and removal, as well as Venser and Teferi's of its own. Yes, a Teferi in play wrecks anything I could do with Jhoira, but Teferi can be dealt with, and I dont want to require Jhoira to win the game. |
