|
|
I was hoping this wouldn't be needed but unfortuantly due to several users this is.
This a reminder of the rules we have with the chat rooms as well and the general rules for the IRC Server we are on; SolidIRC.
Last few weeks we had quite a few problems regarding users disbehaviour and breaking the rules, a few rules which to keep in mind taken from our rule page: http://www.magic-league.com/info/channel_rules.php .
Offensive Language: Magic-League tries to maintain a channel that is friendly for players of all ages. We ask that you behave respectfully and responsibly. Offensive language and rude behavior can result in bans, especially racist comments. Racism will not be tolerated and can warrant a lengthy ban based on the severity of the comment. If you have a problem with another user in the channel, simply private message them and handle it there. Flames do not belong in the main channel.
Players should behave themselves in the main channel. The main channel is for players to find opponents in tournaments or for singles matches/casual games. Players who violate the rules or are obscene may be kicked/banned by operators. If an operator warns you, listen to them carefully. Users who do not follow the rules may be banned based on the operator’s discretion.
To put it simplified: If you break the rules and especially these 2 then the ML Staff hold the right to ban you for any length they think it should be. You can NOT argue with any ML Staff Member about this. Once the ban time is over and the ban is still there you may message the ML Staff member that banned you to ask to remove it. Asking other staff members may result that they will direct you to them instead.
Now as for the next reminder regarding the same issues but then to server related as a whole instead of just the official ML channels; http://www.solidirc.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=9 is the webpage link.
First thing to do is type '/rules' in the chatroom to see the rules of these servers, regarding the problems we have had lately I will post a few here:
No Harassing users or IRC operators.
Harassment
SolidIRC will not tolerate any type of harassment to its users, staff, or channels. If you are found harassing users, staff, or channels, you will be banned from the network. Logs of harassment may be sent to your ISP (Internet Provider) and or local and state authorities if harassment is severe.
Channel Rules
SolidIRC Network allows many types of rooms to be created. If a channel seems to be too vulgar or disruptive in nature the Admins of SolidIRC have the right to remove the channel and forbid it. Certain rooms have rules and regulations which must be followed and those are at the discretion of the room owner. Users have the right to express themselves in any way and language they want. Users must remember to follow the room owner's regulations. Channels of sexual nature are allowed. We ask that they place in the room topic or on join message that the room contains adult language. ANY channels that promote illegal activity are NOT allowed. Channels that are racist in nature are not allowed. Any room that doesn't abide by these rules will be CLOSED and FORBIDDEN until further notice. Rules in channels are subordinated to network rules and cannot suspend them.
Three of the staff members of ML are IRC Operators, these are Gerrardfo, Neo and myself. We deal with both ML and SolidIRC issues.
For both ML and SolidIRC rules no discussion is allowed, we will not change them. Any messages or mails we get about them will be discarded and you may not receive any response at all.
Any bans or the duration of the bans will never be discussed and it is up to the ML Staff (for ml channels) and the IRC Operators (for solidirc in general) to decide. Anyone trying to discuss them may join them if we (or they, the other irc operators) feel the need for them.
Last point in this post will be some general things to keep in mind. #SolidIRC is there for support with channels and other issues/things users have such as requesting a vhost. For magic-league issues I suggest you message a staff member instead, or when it is game related go to #judges4you. Although there are some magic-league players and staff members there, you will not get any help there for ml issues and will get asked to ask that in the Magic-League channels instead (unless you are very very lucky to have a league player to answer)
Regarding rules of the different channels in general (not neceserry magic-league related). If you get banned or kicked from channels then do not go to the irc operators. We are not be responsible for what they do in their channels nor will we intervene. Unless other issues are at hand which are that they are breaking the rules we will intervene.
I hope this is clear to everyone. Also note there is no discussion possible over this post at all.
Kind Regards,
Lamex ~ Magic League Technical Director and SolidIRC Operator. |
