hey guys ive got a question.

first one :

when you play a spell, do you immediately announce which permanent its targetting or dyou wait until resolution?

second thing :

heres the situation

i have a llanowar elves in play and he's got nothing. i am playing mono green aggro and he is playing WR Boros. i have two cards in hand ; might of old krosa and stonewood invocation. he's got 3 cards in hand ; all unknown. i do know his build quite well and knows he is playing sudden shock. both of us have enough mana to cast our relevant spells.

ok so what i did was i casted the might of old krosa in my main phase, targetting the llanowar elves and without passing priority, i casted the stonewood invocation on my elf. will my elf grow to 10/10 untargettable (making it lethal) or will it just be a 6/6 untargettable?

my opponent argued that once the stonewood resolves i cant target might of old krosa to the elf. whats the correct ruling here?

Well, if you never passed priority, than the might is still on the stack. So the Stonewood invocation resolves first and the elf becomes untargetable. and that causes your might to fizzel, or whatever the term is post 8th edition rules...

When you play a spell, if the word "target" appears, then you must annouce the target... if there isn't the word target, then you don't need to annouce target. like when you persecute you don't name a color until it resolves...

those are pretty easy, i %95 sure i'm right.

u have probably figured it out by now but when the stonewood invocation resolves, then it makes your llanowar elf untargetable so no, the might of old krosa would fizzle. think of it like this if it helps...

your opponent plays "Shock" targetting your llanowar elf. you respond with might of old krosa... the shock would not resolve, obviously Smile

E's example is horribly, horribly wrong. Shock will resolve and the creature will take two damage, it just won't die.

The answers are correct though. You declare targets when you play a spell. Your Might of Old Krosa will be countered upon resolution due to its target becoming illegal while it was still on the stack.

100% right.

As long as it says target, its named when its put on stack.
As long as it has you choose something or target something WITHOUT saying the word target, its chosen when the spell or ability resolves.
