you don't really go off at the upkeep you go off in the main phase of our opponent.. plus it helps to do it when they declare they are entering attack phase that way you don't have to worry about xantid swarm since it isn't attacking yet you don't have to worry about his ability.
i have been using peer through depths over impuse. it's the same casting cost only you get to dig one card deeper which i have found helps..and so what if you have to reveal the card you get. your opponent most likely knows what you are doing anyway so i don't see the point.
also, i have added read the runes to the deck which, works so well. once you get going and start building all that mana up you can read the runes and really delve into the deck and it's nice because it lets you discard all the land you draw or already have and you get to keep more cards. it's also good for putting a flash of insight into the graveyard, i have found that i use the flashback cost much much more often than the original cost...
i think this deck is very viable and it is extremely consistant for a combo deck.
im still trying to come up with a much better sb tho.
the best thing i have found to add is trickbind wishing for ti has helped me many times.. however im not to sure if there are any more cards to update in the sb..because some of them you just HAVE to have in it
1x turnabout
1x stroke of genius
1x meditate
1x brain freeze
the others i have are
4x hydroblast
4x disrupt
1x stifle
1x trickbind
1x echoing truth
any sb updates/ improvements would be welcome also any discussion on deck/sb choices is really appreciated |

You really need to run impulse over peer. Impulse finds your lands precombo, while peer doesn't.
If you don't find yourself tapping out most every turn until you go off, then you're playing the deck wrong.
12x Island
6x Blue fetches
4x High Tide
4x Reset
3x Turnabout
3x Cunning Wish
2x Brain Freeze
4x Remand
4x Force of Will
4x Brainstorm
4x Impulse
3x Meditate
2x Peek
2x Think Twice (Could be 4 if you don't want to run peek)
2x Flash of Insight
1x Twincast
SB:
1x Stroke
1x Meditate
1x Turnabout
2x Brain Freeze
3x Twincast
1x Chain of Vapor
1x Echoing Truth
4x Hydroblast
1x Misc spell (could be wipe away, or another bounce)
Think Twice is the newest addition to the deck, and it is there to lighten the burden of fow. |

How many lands do you normally need to have out when you start the whole combo with Solidarity?
Also, I have no idea if it could fit in the deck but seems to me since you "cant" really use sorcery spells in the deck due to Reset. But what about playing with Quicken? For example, Braingeyser would be better than Stroke of Genius. |

you can start the combo with 2 lands, that however requires quite a broken hand (2 high tide+2reset+meditate and the like) and is usually not even required. you almost never fizzle on 4 lands (if your opponent doesnt play counters), but if your opponent doesnt put much pressure on, drop as many lands as you can before you combo.
you cannot wish for sorceries with cunning wish, so quicken is not an option. and even if you could you would have to rely on it too much.
@niknight: i would always run a wipe away sb to be able to handle counterbalance, and think twice is just inferior to opt because it is too mana intensive. |
