Hi i just bought world of warcraft the burning crusades and before i played this type of games i like to investigate about the classes, races, skills, etc. And im stuck between choosing two classes im interested in both warlock and hunter, mostly because the have pets which i think is really cool and hunters can use guns and bow. Studiying the Skills warlocks have better skills they look some waht boring to play, hunter have better pets and can use guns and bow, as i said earlier, but have rather dull skills and a friend told me their melee stregh sucks. So any hunter or warlock who happens to see this, I NEED YOUR HELP!!! And any other wow player whos can help me choose id thank them too.

PS: Another CLass is not an option so do waste your time saying how both suck you should rather be a mage or a rougue Twisted Evil screw that i want my pet!!!!

I think it sounds like you'd like being a hunter more as I've tried out warlocks and some of my friends who play them have said they are indeed quite boring but they get crazy powerful. As for hunter they get more of a pet per say because warlocks only get summons which just attack stuff when you need them to. Also their melee strength does not suck and they get some crazy damage bonuses later on with their talent trees and such. Also hunter would be better when no one else is on cause they're a much better solo class than warlock. Back to warlock's they're pretty boring its just throw more DOTS more DOTS send pet in try to make a shard and hope I don't die, they level really slowly, and I hate the way their spells go for like 45 levels only like 3 of them do damage, warlocks are raid whores basically lol.

I know you don't want to hear it, but the mage class is better than both. For one, mages can deal damage out quicker than any other class. The Warlock takes time to do that much damage. Sure the pet is appealing, but if it dies then you are screwed. The Hunter, on the other hand, is good. Not only does it have a pet, but you stand back and shoot at the enemy while the pet distracts. However, as I stated, you can do 200 damage in 8 sec, where as it would take 24 to do that much with a Warlock. So between the 2, go for hunter.

First I want to give thxs to Merith2004 and Devin05 your comments where very helpfull. I was personally routing more for hunter than warlock, but the warlock still seemed awsome. Just incase ANyone else want to give a better reason to keep to a hunter or thinks its better to have chosen the warlock, keep posting i'll really appreciate it Very Happy

But now i have another dilema Confused what reace should i choose i was routing for night elf (alliance) or Blood Elf (Horde), a friend told me the draenie hunter where awsome, but he also told me that neither of the three can use guns (Oh no! Crying or Very sad ) so what do you guys think should i go dwarf?

Hunters are better early in the game, but at level 70, Warlocks are better, IMO.

I would start with a Hunter.
And as you play more, and make more characters, eventually make a Warlock.

Hunter is a good starting class, and it doens't matter what race you are, all hunters can use guns. So your friend was wrong on that note. I have both a high lvl hunter and warlock and to be honest I found warlocks to be a lot more fun. They are (ask anyone) by far the best PVP class in the game, and are also very good at PvE, raids, grinding etc. So I say go with warlock, and alliance is full of 12 year olds who complain so you should probably roll a Blood elf or undead on the horde side (you won't regret it since you will be winning all your battlegrounds.)

Any race of hunter can use guns. You just have to learn the skill from a weapon master.

As for which to play, I suggest hunter. Train beast mastery spec until 50-60+ then re-spec to Marksmanship. Hunters are great soloing and fit into a group nicely too.

What server are you playing on btw?

Thxs to the rest of you guys that keep helping me on my decision, a first I had decided to be a hunter but thxs to some guys I was chating with on another page and Korniswins the warlock has got my attetion once again, but hunter still has a slight advantage because know I know that i can have guns with any race (Booya! Surprised ) and I have a large variation of pets, but i have a couple of question to help finish my decision.

Whats PvE?
Whats Grinding?
Does PvP give me expirience?
Is it easy to tame a beast?
Is the horde better than the alliance?

PS: I havent started playing yet so im not in any sever, thats my answer to swfett and thxs for your opinion swfett.

PvE is basically anything not PvP related, (questing, running dungeons with your friends, just leveling up your character).
Grinding is a quick (But boring) way to level up fast, just sit in an area with a lot of monsters (WoW players refer to them as Mobs) and kill them over and over to gain lots of experience.
I recommend questing as a first time player (it is a much more enjoyable experience.)
Taming beasts are extremely easy, hunters have a skill called "Tame Beast" just target a best and use the skill and it takes like 5 seconds to cast. Thats all there is too it, often times hunters lay an ice trap (which freezes a mob that comes in contact) to make it easier to tame.

Having played both alliance and horde I can honestly say horde is better. It is a stereotype that alliance is nothing but 12 year olds, but really you will find more young annoying kids on alliance and fewer on horde. Horde usually win the battlegrounds and are generally better at doing instances (especially now that paladins can be on the horde.)

You do not gain experience from PvP, when you kill a player from the opposing faction you get something called an Honor Kill that generates a type of currency called honor. Similar to gold, honor is turned in for armor and weapons.

There are 2 main types of servers PvP and PvE. On a PvE server you can only get honor kills in arenas and battlegrounds, on PvP servers you kill players from the opposing faction whenever you see them (assuming you are in contested territory which is like 90% of the world.) I recommend PvP servers as I like the extra fun of killing people, but it does sometimes suck to get killed when you are questing.

Sorry for Wall-o-text but I wanted to address all of your questions.

Yes a beast you are taming will try to attack you, thats why most hunters lay an ice trap ahead of time to momentarily freeze the beast while you are taming it.
Many will say orcs are the best hunters for their racial abilitys (extra pet damage and a boost of attack power for 15 seconds) however it mostly levels off in the end when you have really good gear. So pretty much just go with what you like, I have a thing for blood elves myself but orc, tauren, troll would all be good choices (don't think undead can be hunters.) I think they all start out with bows not guns, but I'm not fully sure, regardless you can train guns at a weapon master in a major city.
Also a heads up with pets, you can only have one active at a time, and you can keep up to 2 more at a stable master, however they will not recieve experience. Pets do not level up when you do, they have their own experience bar. Also it costs gold to store pets, 1 gold for the first and I think 10 for the second. However you will need to tame many pets in order to capture the skills required to teach your main pet. Pets do not learn skills, you have to teach them skills. For example your pet bear will know bite rank 1, but will never learn rank 2 no matter how high his level gets, you will need to catch a higher level bear/cat/whatever to acquire bite ranks 2-7 and then you can teach it to your main pet.
one more thing you need to give your pets food to keep them happy, so watch out for that, if they get sad or angry they might run away (wont happen as long as you feed them.)
