problems connecting to other players

i have already tried disabling my firewall, and ive looked at the router guide, but my linksys router looks different than the one in the picture..Instead of just saying fowarding in the top left corner, it says port range fowarding. The column where they typed the ports in the picture isnt there. Instead, there is a column that says "customized applications" and another that says ext.port and all the way on the right theres a check box that says enable that wasnt there.

Also, when my friend calls me, for him it says "waiting for opponent to start new game".

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im sorry if this has already been covered or if im doing something blatantly wrong.
