its not nessessary to play creatures you can deck opponent with compuslise research and careful consideration
some sideboard options are bottle gnomes instead of spike feeder

longest sentence ever Wink ... My question is: Why don't more people play this deck? Does it fall apart easily?

yeah its does rip apart control but aggro runs over it. The Howling Mine verison is soooo much worse than this verison. Test it and u will see.

yes locket reduces buyback. and the howling mine version cannot win without having mine in play. but gaea's blessing version is much better, however I always found it to beat aggro but lose to control. maybe its just luck or the metagame.

-4 howling mine
-3 careful consideration
-1 compulsive research

+3 volcanic hammer/somethig like that
+4 rune snag
+1 repeal

and of course, the mana base for that. I used to have an evacuation or two in SB to EoT against most aggro decks.

the howling mine version sucks. big time. not that the version I ran was better, I'm really not sure, but I always thought mine was more fun to play with.

Locketwalk is okay. It's amazing vs. control and horrible vs. aggro.

The most recent version I played against used Research/Development.

This deck sucks especially for M-L meta.
Bad game 1 vs. aggro then you need to sweep games 2 & 3.
Some people play MD Commandeer in control and that means you lose game 1 always unless its the bottom card of the deck then you need to deck them games 2 and 3 with the slowest combo ever.
Folds to LD.
Very unfavorable vs. combo.
