This seems to work with Mongrel, though. You don't have to pull stack tricks. Why not go Mono-Green Combo? Or look for another way to abuse the infinite returns. You can go the Soul Warden route with any number of free outlets. Infinite life is pretty darned good against every deck out except Sensei combo (and you can just run Blessings for that deck). That doesn't mean it's a better deck than Life, but having the option to suddenly make a 5000/5000 Mongrel is going to put a hurting on every deck that doesn't run Sudden Shock. The White rescue mechanic could be of some use here, too. I'd run a lot more acceleration, and just use Weird Harvest. Eladamri's Call could work as a 1- or 2-of. The Mongrel part of the deck seems like it could go off turn three (Turn 1 Mox/Land, Mongrel; Turn 2 Curio, turn three, Weird Harvest for 2 Roots).
The best part about staying Mono or almost mono green, though, would be that you can make the rest of the deck like Stompy, and still win handily with that route -- unlike Life, which was severely underpowered in that respect. |
