| What is everyones' opinion on the lack of format change with PC? I thought that certain decks would be dead with cards like extirpate? Anyone else have an opinion because nothing seems to have changed. |

No one puts extripates in the sideboard, and all the other PC cards suck. Hell, Tormods Crypt AND Leyline of the Void can't even slow down Loam and Ichorid. Not to mention Affinity's numbers with Pernicious Deed and Kataki.
What the hell did you think was going to happen? |

What the hell did you think was going to happen? | Honestly I am not sure what to expect, but I know PC will have a bigger impact overall then it has had on the decks so far in the apprentice tournys. Someone will find a way to make a black deck that maximizes the potential of damnation and extirpate. I also think pophyry nodes (spelling?) will also end up being played and maybe a few other cards. I am just curious what others' think. |

| The death of PC is, as all new sets are, very overrated. It always takes a while for players to integrate new cards into decks and even longer to find those 1-2 that form new decks. So all the "PC is teh suxorzz" seems really silly to me. |

Extended is pretty well solidified as to the archetypes. It really takes something huge to effect it in a significant way(ie. Split Second mechanic). Its also massively net decked(lets not flame the topic away with this issue plz) so it takes even longer for changes to resinate because a lot of players are still playing the popular proven decks from yesterday/last week/month.
Give it some time and im sure you’ll see some cards make it into extended decks. I don’t expect to see any new archetypes from PC though. |

I beg to differ on the extirpate front. It isn't an amazing card but it works really well in conjunction with duress and therapy. Post sideboard, I have a whopping two in my gifts rock deck(likely to be dropped to one probably) and they work good. I would also assume they would work well in a deck like Eldariel's BW discard.
Extirpate is unlikely to define the format but it is some good. Don't hate on buzz cards because they're buzz cards. Try to look past the buzz and try them in a deck that actually takes full advantage of them.
Discard+extirpate=decent for a number of matches. Even forcing a deck to waste wishes on a victim of an extirpate works sometimes.
With gifts rock, I don't need to explain running one extirpate as a bullet for crypts, wretches and other such shit. For any deck that uses a graveyard and can afford to lure a hasty crypt pop they can be good. In one matchup I actually went and duressed a crypt and then extirpated it. One card basically negated my opponent's entire sideboard strategy...one card that I sided in.
Between two or three grips, duress, therapy and an extirpate or two, your opponent has a very large margin of error for you to work with in a match that used to be a bit more difficult. I haven't really tested anything besides gifts rock in 1.x but still, the gist is there.
Two cards that make for a tough decision by your opponent is inferior to three cards...even the potential presence of the card will provoke poor decisions. |
