Please post your budget T1 decks. This will help me get a taste for what I can start going for. BTW dual lands are concidered budget IMO along with cards around 20 dollars. |

Well there was that wild zombies deck that whatshisface won a SCG P9 with I don't remember the name but if its 10 proxy the deck was relatively cheap aside from duals, bazaars, and squees. Legendary Creatures:
4-Squee, Goblin Nabob

lightning bolt+fireblast+goblin grenade+goblins....cheap and can randomly win.
run cheap hosers like tormods crypt, chalice of the void, engineered explosives, cabal therapy, shattering spree, etc to fight opps good expensive cards. |

| tendrils decks are often cheap if you use teh skullclamp and koblod version, but it doesn't stand a chance in regular vintage |

uh i'd just run black with duress ritual hymn ect and just dont even run any of the restricted cards except the ghetto ones like maybe 1x necro 1x will some tutors
the 4x hymn 4 duress 4 dark ritual 4 hippie 4 shade is pretty much building blocks you could run maybe 4 confidant 4 hippie 3 shade & then whatever disrupt you can get a hold of.. Sinkhole wasteland.. Strip mine! IDK black stops the early combo decks good enough which is pretty much the meta game of t1 where I am.. so I mean if you want to combo off yourself idk play 1.5 maybe? ^_^
mono black disrupt and definatley on a budget
uh
if u call sinkholes & shades & confidants & wastelands a budget :/ |

some ideas here
worldgorger combo(without bazaar)
oath of druids (i tested a budget version with artlands + tinker thats quite fine)
fish of course
gobo combos arent that bad
earthcraft deck[thats more funny]
affinity(without moxes not that good but also playable thx 2 sol ring, the new moxes, mana vault, grim monolith, tinker, dark ritual),
suicide black is also pretty good thx 2 dark confidant, duress, hymn, dark ritual, edict, pithing needle, necropotence, phyrexian negator, darkblast ....[if you can afford chains of mephistoteles buy it, i mean its the only real expensive card in it but its ueber]
!Maybe! some version of welder with artlands, tinker...
I personally like the suicide black, fish and oath deck most. I think vs a realy vintage meta(with only some fish) i think suicide black is the best. The oath decks are also pretty good. |

| Fish is the easiest cmpetitive deck to build on a bodget. The few pieces of power the deck does play can be left out. Then all you need is the forces and duals really. Mages go for a bit too though. |

What about Gorilla Shaman. That is one of my all time fav hater cards. Turn one Gorilla Shaman can be a beast. Rancor some good burn (fireblast, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Helix). Some other Hatercards to think about are grunts. It gives grave based decks a rough time.Main deck Ancient Grudge seems good also.
I think that some type of Super-Hater Zoo could be fun if not competitive.
What beaters would you run??? |

Well, I usually play an Elves deck, but it was not exactly thought to be a t1, so I don't think it would stand a chance in a real t1 competition. Anyway, I find it kind of fun, and it's kinda cheap to build, so I'll post. Obviously comments and suggestions are well-accepted.

first, at KrovikanMist: it is entirely possible to be competitive in Vintage without power. If you build, metagame, and play well, it isn't that hard.
second, one of my favorite budget T1 decks,
mono blue Merfolk:
4 Cursecatcher
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Lord of Atlantis
3 Waterfront Bouncer (thanks to erratum, he is a Merfolk)
1 Cold-Eyed Selkie
1 Wistful Selkie
4 Aether Vial
4 Standstill
4 Chalice of the Void
2 Back to Basics
4 Force of Will
4 Daze
1 Disrupting Shoal
2 Chain of Vapor
4 Wasteland
14 Island
A white splash for Sygg and Swords might be correct. I prefer mana stability and the ability to play Back to Basics. In a lower powered metagame, I'd run Jitte main ahead of B2B.
I'm sure a budget Bomberman deck would be pretty solid, too. Aven Mindcensor and Trinket Mage are both just fantastic cards.
Worldgorger Combo is also pretty decent sans Moxen and Bazaar, and easy to hybridize with a Welder deck.
RG aggro with lots of mana denial is pretty good
Goblins are are always a fine choice (Thorn of Amethyst is really good here, particularly following up Lackey or vial) |
