Probably a dumb question

Ok, my opponent had a 2/2 with Conclave's Blessing, and a bunch of Saprolings. I cast Starstorm and did 2 damage to each creature. All the creatures take 2 damage, which kills all the Saprolings, leaving the 2/2 just a 2/2 instead of higher defence. Does it die because of the damage it takes from the Starstorm, or does it not lose the gain from the Saprolings until afterwards?

it dies. when the other creatures die it becomes a 2/2 and still has the 2 dmg on it.

Yup. That's the sum of it.

The creatures affecting the buff (Conclave's Blessing) died, and since Blessing is a continual effect, it's constantly rechecking. As soon as something dies, the change is reflected on the creature.
