Serum Powder
Artifact - 3
Tap: Add 1 to your mana pool.

Any time you could take a mulligan and serum powder is in your hand, you may remove your hand from the game, then draw that many cards. (You can do this in addition to taking mulligans)

A couple questions:
Say I have 2 in my opening hand of 7. Do I draw 14 or 7 when I RFG my hand?

Is there any way to stack a 13 card draw off the opening hand since you can remove your hand in addition to taking the mulligan?

Thanks guys.

I have been wondering about that card since it came out but never did anything about it because it was never really played. Serum Powder says:

Any time you could mulligan and Serum Powder is in your hand, you may remove your hand from the game, then draw that many cards.(You can do this in addition to taking mulligans.)

That last part in parentheses is confusing to me because of the part about addition to taking mulligans. That to me means I remove my hand draw that many and then draw for my mulligan being one less than what I drew for Serum Powder's ability. So if you draw an opening hand of 7 cards and Serum Powder is in your hand you remove it to draw a total of 13 cards. (7 for the Serum Powder and 6 for the mulligan which equals 13.)

With Serum Powder, you either mulligan OR use Powder's effect. If you have multiple powders in your hand, you cannot just draw 13, since when you use the first you wind up removing the other from the game (so you won't be able to use it).

the card description in parentheses means as niknight said that when you have serum powder you can choose either mulligan (drawing a card less) or remove your hand and drawing a new one with the same size, But also sais that if u remove your hand and your new hand is bad again you can mulligan this time. in addition, if u have mulliganed and you get a bad mulligan hand with serum powder on it, you can remove your hand and draw the same number of cards you have (not allways 7) or mulligan again.

anyway, if you have to remove 2 or more times your hand from the game often, i would consider to re-build your deck ;D

With two in your hand, you can either mulligan down to n-1 cards, or remove your hand from the game and draw n cards. Even though you have two in your hand, you can only remove your hand from the game once, and so you would be unable to draw twice as many cards.

You can't draw an insane amount of cards for the first turn using Serum Powder. If you could, a) someone would have noticed it was that powerful, and b) it would have been errata'ed or banned. Especially back in Mirrodin days where you could play your whole hand on turn 1 by using affinity.

Removing your hand does not count as a mulligan, so if you remove 7 cards in your hand (at least one being the Serum Powder), you'll draw 7 as a replacement hand. Then you can mulligan if you want to, and draw 6.
