So I decided to take a card count tonight, to get a rough idea where I'm at..
White
-----
Common - 15
Uncommon - 13
Rare - 10
Blue
----
Common - 13
Uncommon - 14
Rare - 11
Black
-----
Common - 18
Uncommon - 10
Rare - 13
Red
---
Common - 9
Uncommon - 8
Rare - 9
Green
-----
Common - 12
Uncommon - 13
Rare - 9
Gold
----
Uncommon - 3
Rare - 10
Artifact
-------
Common - 17
Uncommon - 3
Rare - 11
Land
----
Uncommon - 16
Rare - 1
Total
-----
Common - 13, 12, 9, 18, 17, 15 = 84
Uncommon - 16, 3, 3, 13, 8, 10, 14, 13 = 80
Rare - 1, 11, 10, 9, 9, 13, 11, 10 = 74
Total cards = 238
It's kinda lookin like Land will be balancing uncommons, Artifacts will be balancing Commons, and artifacts and gold combined are gonna give me a surpluss of rares. I'll probably skim off a bit on all the colours.
I'm currently done lands and artifacts. I don't think I want more of either. Gold will have around.. 5-7 more. Blue and black are largley done, while I struggle with red. So if anyone was gonna suggest for any colour, or rarity, you now know what I need most. |

Wandering Barbarians are too much like Accursed Centuar or Rogue Elephant. Barbarians also don't make sense, they are not mentioned at all in the world. Although I don't have much in the way of tribal type effects "All blah's gain +1/+1", there is still continuity to be had in the story. I think the spoiler already has mention of what there is, as well as the story.
Leaping spider.. "You put Leaping Spider when an attacker is declared.". Uh, what?
Bloody Knight.. now, the problem with this is that knights are primarily white, cept for a single traitor. BUT, this card does fit the sacrifice theme of black, and would be an excellent edition as a demon.
Counter Fairy. A hard counter, these days, is worth 1UU (Hinder). (I woulda said 2U, but convolute shows us thats not true.) A 1/1 flyer is W, or G in relative cost, a single coloured mana. So were up to 1UUU. If you assume that a coloured mana is worth 1.5, and a generic is at 1 for worth of a card, your coming up to 5.5. Your card hits 6.5. Now because hinder is uncommon, IMO a card like that should be 3UU (6) and be common, or be 4U (5.5) and be uncommon. Although, even with the math, one rarely plays a 5 cast counterspell, and as far as I'm concerned, so far in my set, theres not a single unplayable card. Some are clearly that others, but none outright suck. I'd be fine with pushing the boundries and make it a 2UU counterspell that gives you a token. After all, we can already counter for 2UU and get a card (Dismiss).
I think you also forgot to mention you can play it as an instant. Socery speed counters tend to suck =P I think I also need to rename it. Counter Fairy is along the lines of calling a big creature Fatty or Beatstick =P
No thanks on the mechanics. I really wasen't planning on any. Feebleness came in because I relized making a hoard of 0/1 blockers is cheesy. Feel free however, to go back to your old favorite mechanics and put them in. The only ones I DON'T suggest, are playing cards face down (because I wont have enough of them, so it's gonna be blatently obvious what you just played), or Shadow. Again, because without enough Shadow creatures, it just reads as "unblockable". However fading, culmuniative upkeep, phasing, buyback, kicker.. it's all good. |

I'm gonna keep the faerie as a creature, thus it retains its bouncability. Cards with synergy are infinatly more intresting. Imagine a deck with a fearie that countered spells and flew, then attacking with.. Ninja of the deep hours or something.
Joyous Faith: In what situation, exactly, is this good? =/
Feiry Comet: No card, common or not, I have made completely unplayable yet. This one kinda borderlines.. especially with Lightning Blast in existance already.
Natural Decay.. A buyback disenchant isn't a bad idea, but needs to be carefully balanced, with cards like Shattering Pulse and Allay to guide us. Making it B makes sense for the life loss, but perhaps we should follow the Sacrifice theme as well. Considering both B and G in my set has token creation capabilities... it'd be sensible.
Buyback - Sacrifice a creature and lose 1 life. Goes nice with the name too =) |

I'm up to 250 cards as I go to bed today.
One question though.. are all the sets on this forum officially dead? There are some good cards in some of these threads that I wouldn't mind taking. |
