Hey, this is an UG aggro control deck I have been testing. It fairs ok but its not all that smooth and I seem to be missing something.

UG Aggro-Contol

//Creatures
4 Dryad Sophisticate
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Sakura-Tribe Elder
4 Iwamori of the Open Fist (Win Condition)
2 Meloku, the Clouded Mirror (Alt Win Condition)

//Counters
4 Remand
3 Voidslime
3 Spell Snare

//Draw
2 Tidings

//Bouce
4 Boomerang

//Mana Search
3 Farseek

//Land
4 Breeding Pool
4 Yavimaya Coast
2 Simic Growth Chamber
6 Forest
7 Island

I have no sideboard as of yet, I would like to wait until the deck is fully finished.

Please include all the changes you would make and why so I can improve my deck building skills. I would like to keep the deck Aggro-Control if possible. I haven't really tried Simic Sky Swallower or Leafdrake Roost in this deck as of yet.

Thanks for the help.

I'd cut Farseek and Sophisticate for Ledgewalker and Jitte/Cloak. I think Mana Leak would be better than Voidslime and Spellsnare, also. Tidings should probably be Compulsive research. Coiling Oracle is really good, I think I'd play that over Elves, as you have no three drops to accelerate into. Iwamori is just bad. Half the time you just lose, and the other half he's just another guy, albeit an efficient one.

Actually I feel that using Iwamori as the win condition is pretty risky considering the number of decks running legendary creatures now - just think Yosei and Keiga.

But yes, I'll want Silhanna Ledgewalker in there, along with Moldervine Cloak and Umezawa's Jitte. I'll drop Farseek and Llanowar Elves and maybe reduce the number of Dryad Sophisticates.

Maybe you need Simic Signet to fix your mana, but that's just me.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll test the suggestions and get back to you all.

Also, how many counters do you think I should be running and which ones?

I made my build and came out much heavier on the control end, but I find it funny how we both used Iwamori as a kill condition. And yes, the Drake Roost is not a joke, I tried it for kicks and giggles and it's a bit slow unless you've got the enemy stalled out as well.

4 Breeding Pool
9 Forest
7 Island
1 Minamo
1 Okina

4 STE
4 Birds of Paradise
2 Meloku
2 Iwamori
2 Keiga

4 Voidslime
4 Mana Leak
3 Remand
2 Leafdrake Roost (yeah, I thought it was funny too when I first thought of using it)
3 Boomerang
3 Genju of the Cedars
3 Hinder
3 Rewind

Sideboard hasn't been done yet, but I was thinking of a transformational sideboard, maybe jump straight to aggro?

Comments:
I have playtested this deck a bit and although it seems to work, its a bit clunky. Maybe someone interested in UG Aggro Contol builds can also test this and give feedback.

I also now know that Ledgewalker+Jitte+Cloak = Almost Autowin

My finisher is Meloku and generally she comes onto the scene every game when I am near finishing my opponent. Obviously she is just awesome and has broken through some stalemates for me with the huge advantage she creates. I'm fine with 3 of her at the moment as I draw her almost everygame but she is not in my opening hand most of the time. 4 May be neccessary when the deck is better tuned but at the moment 3 is ok. I don't want her to sit in my hand dead in the beginning of the game as at that time I'm building my army and getting some advantage on the board.

Coiling Oracle is a natural 4 of. He is awesome, giving me advantage whatever happens but sometimes nets me a land which is nice in the early stages. And in the late game my deck is this so I am more likely to pull a useful card which is great.

4 Llanowar Elves as they accelerate me into my creatures and give me mana open to counter with Spell snare as I play out the creatures. Better than birds or sakura as they can wear jitte.

Dryad Sophisticate in my opinion is my worst creature. Yeah she rules wearing a cloak and holding a Jitte but Ledgewalker does her job that tiny bit better. That's generally why I only have 3.

"Ledgewalker at 3?" you might say. Yes the Ledgewalker is great and often wins games with the cloak and Jitte its just that I cannot lose one of my other creatures. I don't want to lose a Sophisticate incase they have fliers as the Dryad can waltz on through. Coiling oracle is must 4 of. Llanowar I need to have mana for counters as if they counter my first Ledgewalker I will lost a lot of advantage trying to find him.

I have compulsive research for card advantage. Once I've played out my threats, I'll want to find Meloku as fast as possible as I'll have nothing else to do apart from maybe counter spells. Compulsive digs 3 cards and when I have lands on the board I wont mind losing one. Compuslive research over tidings as with research I can pull out a win with a bad hand with one on turn 3 (or 2) digging for a cloak or jitte for a creature on the board (I should have one) or a Meloku to get back the advantage. Tidings provides more advantage late game, yes but this is a fast deck that may need the card advantage early to pull out the win.

I lost Voidslime as I realised that I am only countering to ensure my threats get on the board before theirs. Voidslime is the most expensive and will not help in this area. Yes its the best of the 3 late game to kill the opponents mega cards but a remand should buy me the turn I need for the Ledgewalker, Sophisticate or Meloku and her minions to get the last points of damage through.

Spell snare is a charm in this deck. It counters their counters such as remand and mana leak. It is cheap and I can have mana open for it even whilst laying my threats. It stops pyroclasm which will otherwise decimate my army. On their second turn it will lost them their two drop or signet which can sometimes win me the game as my creatures WILL take advantage over the tempo gain. Later in the game it may lose its true power but can still counter the jitte, pyroclasm and many other 2 CC cards that many decks use.

Remand is good buying me a turn in the late game. Removing annoyances such as blockers in the early game as well as giving me card advantage.

For sideboard I don't think I have playtested and tuned the deck fully to have one.

However I think the sideboard should allow me to go MEGA aggro to truly race the faster decks.

Possibly go fully Control with 4 melokus and keiga as win conditions. Board in the counters and card advantage to take on the discard decks and seylesna mid game winner type decks.

Thoughts?
