I lean this way; sometimes I get timmy spike, but the strategy of winning is really what it's about for me. I sometims think building my own deck is the way to do that though.

More than any personality, I'm a Spike. In reality, I'm more of a Spike/Johnny/Timmy

I play first and foremost to win, and I have done things in the past like playing Affinity. I'm more a Spike in Limited also, I will ALWAYS just play the best possible build to win, foregoing any other interesting and cute things that might be available unless they completely go towards me winning. But in Constructed formats, I'm just a very highly skilled Johnny, just in a very Spike-ish way. I only play very innovative rogue decks, but the REASON I only play those decks is that playing a deck that anyone else at all is playing means I could have a matchup as bad as 50/50. I don't play decks that are not better than 50/50 against the entire field. So if I'm playing a deck that even a small portion of the field is playing, I'm likely to have a LOT of sb tech for the mirror. If I'm playing a deck that has a weakness against another deck that's played, I add more and more tech until it beats that other deck. For instance, in the last Extended season, I played U/R affinity with no black, playing 4 maindeck ninja of deep hours, 8 non-artifact lands, 4 fire/ice and 2 magma jet main, and a completely red sideboard including 4 electrostatic bolts to help me deal with decks containing kataki...not to mention flaring pain makes heartbeat a bye after board =P. It worked, also, just not quite well enough. Between myself and 2 local teammates, we T2d 2 PTQs, T4d 2 PTQs, and T8d 3 PTQs (7 times in T8 out of 11 possible - I played 4, and friends played 4 and 3).

That's the philosophy that's made me the consummate rogue player. I really ONLY play rogue decks, but I succeed with them (to the tone of a few thousand bucks in career magic earnings [almost pays for what I've SPENT on the game...] and a 1900 composite DCI rating). And I still play casual Magic every weekend and greatly enjoy randomly playing some absurd cards like Confusion in the Ranks just because it's fun and chaotic, so there's definitely a Timmy side to me as well.

btw - I'm not normally a fan of ElvishGod posts, but this one's a winner. That may just be because I'm a psychology buff, but that's beside the point.

I don't even know you.

Go the hell away. I have no reason to take shit from you or any other flaming loser. I still want to know.

Anyway, its quite obvious that Spikes and Johnny/Spikes are what are the main thing among these forums. One admitted Timmy, however.
