It's funny though. I made my statement which most people will agree with and he answers with his ignorance of that metagame. |
They were banned for no reason right?
KCI, Affinity, both huge powers, and most people were SICK of seeing them, boring to play, the deck played itself, it was virtually unstoppable. Stop kidding yourself.
I've read countless articles, that eventually seemed to turn into rants at Affinities ridiculous resiliancy. It bounces back almost everytime. |
Hey SuperScrub, notice how I said the Affinity stuf was banned A-F-T-E-R Onslaught major cards left and many decks got WEAKER because Kamigawa didn't give anything worthwhile. That's the only reason those affinity cards got banned. You think if Kamigawa gave us as much powerful cards as Onslaught gave us, Affinity would have been raped by bannings?
If you say yes, kill yourself immediately. |
Onslaught was stronger than Kamigawa, but Onslaught was not equal to or greater than the raw power of the mirrodin block. I never heard of people going "Wow, the onslaught block was a beast!" It's all about how mirrodin was the most broken garbage block they ever played, why did so many people leave until it cycled out? They hated it that much. Even back in the broodstar days it was a force to be reckoned with. |

We just had a mini in this format and I won with Affinity. Record 2-0 vs. Affinity (he played a cranial plating and scooped it up, oops DQ), 2-1 vs. Goblin Bidding, 2-0 vs. Elf and Nail.
Yeah so Affinity > All. Disciple > Artifact Destruction. Skullclamp is broken. GG.
I have no idea why Disciple wasn't banned with Skullclamp or atleast within like 3 months after... |

With my BG Cem I playtested over 250 matches with affinity, and came out with a ~80% (Yes 80%) win percentage.
This was vs. multiple builds of affinity, multiple players and only 7 maindeck artifact hate cards. (4 Shaman, 3 Zealot)
Now if I can get 200+ wins out of 250 vs a deck that makes up 75% of the meta, I beleive that it isnt that broken.
Beating it was quite simple.
Block ravager with baloths. If they sac, then your deathcloud rapes. If they dont sac then they have no more modular, and your deathcloud rapes.
I went 6-2-1 at regionals with the list, losing only to mirror, and one affinity I drew 3 city of brass in my opening hand first game, then was forced to mull down to 3 2nd game.
The deck WAS NOT THAT HARD TO BEAT. AT ALL. It was just because of the incredible ammount of people playing it, and the lack of skill it took to play it sufficiently, that it did so well. |

you are terrible. ravager takes an insanely large amount of skill to play correctly, and the players you tested against were horrible. |

Snoopster you are a moron. He didn't say the deck wasn't hard to play well, he said it was easy to play sufficiently. Aka the deck was very forgiving of misplays which it was. Please, if you're going to talk out of your ass, at least wipe it first. |

I won 2 different minis with an affinity build I threw together in 5 mins. and most of my sideboard was devoted to the mirror (the savage tech of Seething Song/Furnace Dragon and Electostatic Bolts made sure I won the mirror all day and no other deck could keep up with with Disciple). Seriously though Disciple was soo broken, I beat that mono green deck your talking about (PS you forgot Viridian Shaman), Disciples turned all his artifact destruction into burn spells and sometimes I'd just Shrapnel blast my own stuff in response to him targeting it. Seriously Affinity was sooo broken it's not even funny. It was the most unfun T2 enviroment I can remember in magic ever and I've played since 4th edition. The only reason I even played in these minis was because people were coming on here saying Affinity would not win, but guess what it did. You can make a deck that has 20 artifact hate cards MD but guess what, if you play against a non-affinity deck you might as well scoop game 1, and your not even assured to beat Affinity. At any rate I think I made my point by sweeping up both these minis and I'm confidant that Affinity is the gayest most broken T2 deck since Urza's Block and anyone who claims an 80% win against it is obviously full of shit. You have to think about how rediculous an 80% win percentage is against a deck that can easily kill you by turn 5 with a halfway descent draw. Yeah not likely dude. |
