is any one else really suprised at this top 8? 1 zoo(i expected more), 2 owl decks (didnt expect any top 8 ), 2 Black/white agro, a gruul beatdown deck(not sure why this over zoo) then UR tron and heartbeat.
i really expected to see more control. No Greater good, no glare. totally different top8 then worlds, pretty interesting.
what do u guys think? |

| The owl decks look like crap to me, I hope to god they don't play any of the aggro decks, otherwise they're toast already. Good luck to all of them though... |

I love Craig Jones.
That was so savage a topdeck game 5 against Oli, I hurt myself cheering. |

If this were a movie, Craig would have topdecked the Bathe in Light.
Except it would not have won him the game because of that second Kird Ape. |

Owl decks ARE control decks.
The actual deck has said to originate on starcity games as a monoblue fun deck, and then went to red and became a tournament quality control deck.
I had a league game yesterday with my Owling Mine deck in which the first game went like this.
Turn 1:
Steam Vents
Turn 2:
Island, Owl Opponent takes 4 damage.
Turn 3:
island, Howling mine, 4 more damage
Turn 4:
Steam vents, Gigadrowse, Exhaustion, 4 more damage
Turn 5:
Mikokoro, transmuted muddle for owl, ebony owl, 8 damage.
Game. My opponenet played [wurd] and never dropped anything but a land.
This is not always how it goes, but the deck works on lockdown. Throw in some pyroclasm and even weenie will lose to it. |

Chan was playing Pyroclasms and a transformational sideboard dedicated to playing against aggro and he could still only win one game.
The rest of the Owl field was wiped out by matches against aggro. |

| Major problem is decks like zoo play Kird Ape, Watchwolf, and Shaman/Mauler. They all can evade clasm. Evac is kind of the best they can do it seems. Where is Vedalken Shackles when you need them... |

First thing is first, i would say that 2 out of the 8 owl decks that were played made top 8 of a 16 round tourney. I would not say that the other decks were wiped out by zoo or any other aggro. Now on the other hand there was over 60 decks of zoo and 1, i repeat 1, made it to top 8. and if you would check your facts Stucco, all the owl decks where in the top 50 of a what 400 man tourney, i wouldnt call that a poor performance with 25% of the owl decks making top 8. Gruul beats did walk right over the owl decks mainly because of the side board with a creature that destorys artifacts and naturlize. Also the main deck burn for the kami. Secondly, A. Ruel played C. Jones, another owl vs zoo, and he sided in hunted wumpus and tin hooligan in order to beat the owl. Wumpus is great in this matchup cuz thier only creature is kami. Besides, All the owl haters, are hating cuz the deck is almost all "Commons and Uncommons" with the exception of the land, kami and howling mine. And this $150 deck is raping those 250-500 dollar decks, cuz lockdown is great. Everyone was hating GGG when it came out in the Worlds, cuz it was $500 with a game lock aka (yosei+good) remember. So, yall just keep hatin and ill holla

| whatever, even if it was 18 or 16 owl decks, take a look at where the placed at the pt, say over half in the top 40 and still if it was 16 owls, thats 15%, so i was off, i admit but zoo and the other "Top Decks" that were suppose to be so great, like say u/r magnivore, ggg, zoo, ideal, tron, ect, what % of those decks made the top 8, i think 1 out of 60 was zoo, not even 2%, and tron=osp, and i think(maybe wrong on the exact number) that there was 20 or so tron's out there and only one in top 8, so thats a 4% and no ggg or vore or ideal, ect. Im still going to have to pick Owl as the deck that everyone will be netdecking, that and the gruul beats, and thats only cuz it won the pt. and a heavy dose of b/w or b/w/g control would take care of the pos deck. wrath, mortify, putrefy, fetters, lox, koko, yosei, knell, and it would be all she wrote for that r/g mess. And again, im out |
