Dryad Sophisticate VS Silhana Ledgewalker

I can't see a beatdown deck NOT running either jitte or cloak, if not both. for that reason, I say ledgewalker hands down. It is so hard to kill, you can just drop a cloak on it and hold all your other creatures in hand, then they HAVE to waste a wrath on 1 creature. then you drop your other creatures. I used to play dryad but it got killed way to easily.

Im not 100% sure which is better.Ive tested ledgewalker and when i drew a cloak or jitte silhana was good but if u dont draw jitte or cloak its horrible.It all depends in an aggro deck w/ just cloak or just jitte its terrible unless u draw a cloak or jitte.Dryad is always a 2/1 beater that suually is unblockable.Of course Silhanas untargettable ability makes him amazing but only w/ a jtte or cloak.W/o jitte or cloak Silhana is horrible. :'-/

i might build a Gw aggro deck with both in, but in my gruul deck wins i run ledgewalker cos if u get jitte or cloak it can be a win. in heezy's deck he ran dryad cos his deck was more offensive than mine, with flames MD, and more 1 drops. they are both good cards, but i think ledgewalker's "can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponent controls" is the coolest ability i've seen on a card in a long time.

I don't want to get some people in here angry, but this thread shows perfectly what level most of the players in here are. Look up the Pro Tour results, search the decks for Dryad Sophisticates and Silhan Ledgewalkers, there is a reason one gets played and the other not. Yet the majority of ml-players are of the opinion Ledgewalker is better. There really is nothing to compare, one card is crap, the other one is a tournament staple.

cause clearly pros always have the best card choices in their deck and the decks in a pro tour have every bit of tech in them. There's also no possible way that there is no undiscovered tech cause that's never happeend in the past (tooth, jitte)

If your going to post give reasons why such is better than such and such not just "Hey look at this one pro tour, their decks didnt have this card so it MUST be bad, I mean the pro players are never wrong and theres enevr been a case where they used worse card choices right???"

I'd take Sophisticate over the Ledgewalker every time. The sophisticate is effective nearly every time it hits the board. It is also, basically, a must kill every time it hits the board. It doesn't need cloak, it doesn't need jitte, it doesn't need any of that. It is just a solid threat.

The ledgewalker is only effective if you pull equip/aura for it. Then that equip/aura must not die. Otherwise, the creature sucks. This is basically a 2 part combo. In aggro, this is unacceptable. Sure it could be good, but still your consistency goes out the window. If it isn't aggro, there are better creatures to abuse than ledgewalker.

Let look at sophisticate and Ledgewalker a bit more closely. Let me start off with sophisticate.a)sophisticate is almost always unblockable.a.1) ledgewalker is almost always hard to block.b) dryad cracks for 6 dmg by turn 5 with out any cloaks jitte etc.b.1) ledgewalker cracks for 3 dmg by turn 5 without cloaks jitte etc.c) dryad can be killed by spot removal and dies to board removal.c.1) dies only to board removal.

Overall i think the dryad is a better aggro card as it does more dmg and can avoid all blockers to get at the last 2 life around a yosei or kokusho. The point of an aggro creature is to deal dmg as fast and consistently as possible...even WW runs eiganjo. While ledgewalker can be abused it is almost useless on it's own in a aggro deck and puts no pressure on your opponet unless it is cloaked or has a jitte on it. If it was 1cc it might be considered but, with the low power to cost ratio it has to do something outstanding like Goblin ringleader which allows you to get more threats and refuel your hand, or, have a way to play it cheaper like arrogant wurm.

To play a 1 power creature for 2 in constructed, it has to have a very good ability (Jushi Apprentice, Spiketail Hatchling, Fireslinger) or it's main function is not being a creature (Sakura-Tribe Elder). All the evasion and untargetability in the world isn't going to make a 1/1 for 2 playable.

Kaesh and Big have it right I think. Dryad is slightly better overall. If you have the room and looking for more speed, then perhaps 2 Ledgewalkers isnt a bad idea, but I wouldn't replace the Dryad. While I'm not a big fan of 'Haha, you wasted a card on my Dryad instead of something else' logic. A threat is a threat. Untreated, it doesnt matter what body the threat has. Doens't mean burn the Dryad isntantly, but dont regret it if kill it then he drops another bigger body threat. Besides, there is always more burn, conversley there are always more Dryads...

One thing I'd also add is to look at it this way. What would you rather have on the table? 2 Dryads or 2 Ledgewalkers? Attack for 4 or 2 per turn? Add a cloak or Jitte in the mix and now what? With the Dryads, one gets killed...you can continue the beatdown with jitte or cloak on the other anyways. The Ledgewalkers? Wrath and you loose it all anyways, but the whole time you did half the damage.

Dryad is the winner here overall. Dont discount the Ledgewalker as a BAD card at all, just dont consider it better.
