Firstly, a name, since I was a big fan of Shandlar and it has become abandonware now (meaning no one has rights to it, much like Apprentice) I would suggest the online play interphase name from that.

Manalink

Now, you seem to have a lot of options, and a dedicated server as you said setup, why not a link or some screen shots for us to at least see this is a true program and not something to get our hopes up, not saying it isn't but seeing is believing. If it is real, good luck on your development, and I hope to see it ini action in the near future.

As for the name, we'd like to keep it more common, since the program will be able to play other card games in the future.

As for the screenshot.. how about a game with it?
PM me for info.

I would also like to help beta test this program. I don't really care if this program is accepted for ML, a better program to play magic is a better program to play magic. I'm sure if your server gets big enough you'll have sponsors and have your own tournies with giveaways and such.

On the topic of multiplayer games, it would be nice, but ultimatly not practicle. As it is the game screen can become crowded with just two players, factor in the fact that 3+ player games can get into 20-30+ turns... being able to see all cards in play and keep things organized and understandable would be somewhat hard to accomplish. (not to mention readable)

I think an ultra simplistic play area, such as just listboxes listing each play area for each player like Land, Enchantments, Creatures, Graveyard, and removed from play, would be the best way to implement 3+ player games. When you click on a card, it loads up the card in a card display window off to the side. An even better idea would be using a gridbox for all cards in play by a certain player, sorted by card type, and then a seperate box for graveyard and removed from play cards. Using the grid you can display manacost, card type, and abilities in a easily readable format. (much like MWS deck mode or MTG Studio)

Thanks for your input, i'll PM you when we have a proper test version out, development is going slowly now that we're coming to the final stages.. wonder why that is? Razz

As for the multiplayer is concerned, we use a tabletop much like maps in RTS games with infinite space and a way to scroll over the table by using the rightmouse-hold-down-and-move method, just like in RTS games as well.
Also, with zonejump buttons, you can jump to areas like Player X's RFG, Graveyard and such.

In some advanced todo list we also have the zoom out/in feature waiting, but that would require some extra thought.

Untill soon, hopefully before april fools Wink
