So I've only participated in two of these and I'm not sure if I still know all the rules, but here's the card request:

I'd like you guys to make a Legendary Tribal Lord.

The idea is a card that makes it possible to play a tribe and be competitive.

I'll judge cards on Cool Factor (5 Points): Do you want to build a deck around this card?

Flavor (5 Points): Does this card fit with the flavor of the chosen tribe?

Balance (5 Points): Is this card appropriately costed?

Power (5 Points): Would this card make my tribal deck Tier 1?

I'll judge a week from Saturday. Good luck have fun.



Example Card:
Herald of the Rising Moon
Legendary Creature - Human Werewolf
RRGG Mythic Rare

Haste, Trample

When Herald of the Rising Moon enters the battlefield, transform up to 1 Werewolf you control.

At the beginning of each upkeep, if no spells were cast last turn transform Herald of the Rising Moon

As long as there are no other creatures on the battlefield, The Shadowed One loses hexproof and gets +4/+4

Other assassin creatures you control get +1/+1 and have deathtouch
Tap: The Shadowed One deals 1 damage to target creature

For every plan, he has 2 backup plans.

Bear Warlord GGGG legendary bear mythic rare

When bear warlord comes into play you may reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a non bear, non land card. You may cast any bears revealed this way with out paying there mana cost. Shuffle the remaining revealed cards back into your library.

I see an army coming captain, its an army of bears, I have never seen so many bears united in all my life.

Its soft to counters, or a bolt and sweeper. Plus the rest of your cards realistically, in the deck have to be bears, which is a big disadvantage, considering most bears are vanilla 2/2's this was the only way i could conceive to make bears a possible contender. There are still loads of decks in modern that are to quick for this also, infect, affinity, living end would force you to draw 2 bear lords, uwr can just counter the bear though i guess you play cavern of souls but they still have bolt plus sweepers. Plus even with playing every green scry land, relying on drawing 1 card every game, is not a good strategy.

It would just be another linear deck in modern an inconsistent one at that.

Its even worse in standard where there are less bears, more removal, still counters and more sweepers and no cavern of souls, although it maybe slightly format warping in most standards.

It would be a hell of a lot of fun though, for about 2 games for me anyway, then i realize there is no play to this deck and its just not interesting enough to keep me playing for hours upon end. But i think tribal bears even being a conceivable modern deck would make bear lovers everywhere happy.

This is what i think a modern list would look like with the card

4 bear warlord
4 changeling titan
4 Runeclaw Bear
4 Uvenwald Bear
4 Alpine Bear
4 Druids Familiar
4 Woodland Changeling
4 Cairn Changelling
4 Changelling Beserker

3 Temple of Plenty
3 Temple of Mystery
4 Temple of abandon
4 Temple of Malody
4 Cavern of Souls
6 Forest

Sideboard

4 nameless inversion
4 Blighted Fen
4 Bojuka Bog
3 Kalahni Garden

Inconsistent and to slow to beat some decks but i think it would be a contender. Plus soft to blood moon and ld, meddling mage, eidiloon of rhetoric, rule of law.

Also there are not enough bears in std for there to be a deck:P

I've got rid of the haste now also that was overkill. Which makes a lot of what i said previously not make sense but I'm to lazy to rewrite it all.

Yeah it's more balanced without haste. Maybe an out of the box effect. 'When you play a bear, draw a card.' Lower the mana cost too. Maybe a cost reduction mechanic would work. Also, an anthem could work instead of decreasing the CMC to 4. Just a few ideas.

I went with a Tribe not really represented well in MTG. My idea would be the Set would bring them back some.
