Thank you Thel for the win,
Stucco's card was great also.

Often for these CaCs 'Print-ability' is a judging factor, and why not, Wizards need to consider all cards printed extremely carefully before releasing them, lest we end up with another Skullclamp, Treasure cruise, Mental Misstep etc...

The interesting thing is when Wizard assessed the above named cards they decided that were indeed 'printable!!!'

For this CaC I want you to create a card that is as close to unprintable as possible BUT a card that would slip through the careful consideration of Wizards.

please explain rules.. I do not get it. clamp was good. cruise sucked in limited and in standard. and misstep outside of modern was never good. As I player who will never play modern this challenge makes no sense to me. From what I read you want something Broken....but the "brokeness" is not easily seen. if that is the case I think you listed bad examples. no offense

What I like the most with this is that you may fight again land death + land flood

The way I see it, there are two types of cards that slip past R&D. The first type is something that cheats on mana cost, like Mental Misstep and Treasure Cruise. Those kinds of cards are easy to misevaluate and even easier to make, because you can just slap a powerful effect onto a seemingly benign cost reduction mechanic.

The second type of card is one that is only broken when you pair it with an existing card. Think of what Vampire Hexmage did for Dark Depths, or Thopter Foundry did for Sword of the Meek. These cards are trickier to spot if you're unfamiliar with every card ever printed. My card sort of fits into the second category. It has a reasonable effect that sneaks in a second ability that combines absurdly well with existing cards.

Brain Engraving -- B

Tribal Sorcery Eldrazi

Devoid

As an additional cost to cast Brain Engraving, reveal another card from your hand.

Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a card with the same converted mana cost as the card you revealed and exile that card.

Eldrazi Cycling {C} (Discard this card: Search your library for an Eldrazi card, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.)

Draw a card.
Add two mana of any color to your mana pool.

"More Lumber! Let's keep the fire burning until nightfall!"

It'd be printed because of the color restrictions on the card. But guess who'd abuse it......[/quote]

Your thinking is too narrow,
the cards I mentioned were utterly format warping. Wizards do not want to print format warping cards, yet there they are. I don't want something Broken, I want something almost Broken.

Also, I'm going to make a second one, if you don't mind. I believe it is beyond broken.

Spiral Codex 4

Artifact - Rare

When Spiral Codex enters the battlefield sacrifice a permanent you control then search your library for a card,
reveal that card, shuffle your library, then put that card on the bottom of your library.

T: Draw a card from the bottom of your library and then put Spiral Codex on the top of your library.

The spiral encompasses all and thus all arises within.
