Flips and people with 0 backups! Please cast your vote!

Ok in the Wed, 2/8 at 12 AM CST | Type 2 with GP (Feb. 20) Appr Trial the second round i came across my next opponent only to find out neither of us could host. I had both backups MWS and Hamachi he had neither. When i asked him if he had MWS or Hamachi the first thing he tells me "I cant im running win98 go to flips." Oh my god here we go again Jesus christ if you cant get the back ups and you cannot host then dont play simply put it's bullshit to loose in flips to someone with no backups to play the game. So im talkint to the TC about this situation after I lost in flips. Here is a quote from Jakobian during our talk about it "Jakobian : he did win my mini yesterday by flipping through allthreerounds." Holy jesus christ so this guy deserves to continue in the trial? What does everyone think about this problem, something needs to be done about it and fast.

NO,this was already solved. THose who cant run any other programs dont need to have them....etc.
So nothing should be done.

I agree that people who are unable to host should not be allowed to join trial tournaments. Casual and minis are okay, but not a trial. Either they get MWS or Hamachi, or simply not play.

well, first off, i am the one, Brandon is refering to, i have win98 se, and i cant get hamachi yet, i am however traveling this weekend to upgrade my computer, so i will have hamachi, I only go by the rules, if magic league wants to change the rules by all means do, but dont complain about the rules that are in place now, Why have the flips channel, if its not "Kosher", but i followed the rules, and there was no limitations in entering the trial. Looks like your going to have to live with it for now.

it was never "solved"....thats just what the brass has said...and it's inane

so let's protect the large minority of people who are incapable of running hamachi or mws because they are on an 8 yr old operating system....it makes no sense to punish the majority for the shortcomings of the minority. Obviously we have to respect the rights of the minority to some degree....but if someone is running windows 98 and/or has opted not to have alternate methods such as hamchi or mws then they should simply be given a game loss in flips so it doesn't hurt there rating and still maintains the integrity of the tournament. The real question here is what is the point of allowing this person w/ no alternative to continue in the tournament when they are most likely to simply cause the same situation every round they advance. They should be allowed to enter but given a flips loss when they run into someone who cannot host but is able to run alternate forms. You cannot put the protection of a small ammount of people above the integrity of the system.

Obviously we strive to protect that minority incapable of hosting. And in minis who cares really? But in trials (and masters, but those are all MWS anyways) it should not even be theoritcally possible to win by flips. Trials actually matter in terms of byes in masters and invitations; and when the tournament matters for something beyond fake internet rating points it's time to just get some fortitude and say "NO, i'm sorry but if u cannot host and are running an archaic OS that prevents you from using alternatives we must protect the integrity of our system and award the game to the player more likely to preserve that integrity"

I agree with Visara, you should not be allowed to flip your way to the top of a trial.
I actually had a guy once tell me he didn't have Hamachi or Workstation and he couldn't host, we went to flips and he won. I was really annoyed and complained to him that he shouldn't join minis if that is his condition. He then gives me the win via flips and a couple minutes later messages me that he can host and he was just kidding. So we played it out and I won. Now that could have been rating points for me, which at the time ratings actually got you byes into the masters.
Now I'm not gonna make a big gripe about a few rating points, but it is really annoying. Especially during a trial. At least make a special note for trials not to join if you don't have the appropriate softwares.

well hawk, im not gloating, and im not braggin, only thing im sayin, is take your fustration out on Magic league, not the players that are obeying the rules. Rules are in place for a reason, you can't break them just because YOU think they are wrong. If the rule gets changed, so be it, i want enter the trials until i get hamachi. Dont take your frustrations out on the judges, they are only there to enforce the rules set by Magic-league, and the players obey the rules. I think you, or anyone that has a suggestion about rule changes should click on the link that says Contact Us, in the League Info section. Hey heres a thought, Complain to the people that can actually do something about the situation!!!!!!!!

seems to me like hawkeye is jut sore he lost to random chance hey it happened to all of us and what makes u so special not everyone on magic-league can afford a 300$ operating system and some of us have to make do with the means we have and play for the love of the game did u ever think that maybe ur opponent was hoping u can host just so he could play a couple of meaningful games of competitive magic if u think about it ur a hypocrit because u couldnt host either k so u had hamachi and mws u have to understand that some of us still cant connect even with hamachi due to an unstable connection and mws also has a fucked up shuffler and everyone here knows it so until u lose the finals in a master i think ur just going to have to sit with ur ass cheeks real tight and hope nothing gets thru (btw I can host perfectly fine i'm just arguing for the other side of the issue)

meatwad....i dont even know how to reply to your insanity...btw yes i have thought that maybe my opponent was hoping i could host...and i dont object to that. The logical argument, however, is that once it reaches the point where niether can host but one is able to have alternative methods the that one should advance and the other should be given a flips loss (this is only trials btw....minis who gives a damn). try thinking before your just flame.
