My first win ! Well with that obligatory statement lets to go the challenge.

Magic is returning to the world of Kamigawa and want to maintain the flavourful feel while changing the mechanical failures of that block. Design a card with a flagship mechanic that fits the Kamigawa flavour and world.

Marks will be based as follows
Balance of Card 10 (How balanced is this card for type 2 and limited play? What about older formats if it is pushed? )
Mechanic 5 (How is the mechanic? How is it balanced? Does it promise lots of design room?)
Flavour 5 (Does this feel like something from kamigawa?)

Feel free to include a few lines after explaining - especially where you see the mechanic and the flavour going (the card itself should be able to stand on its own)

I think it's funny that no one has actually fulfilled the challenge so far.

One of the requirements is to design a new mechanic that fits Kamigawa without being terrible.

My card is coming soon.

Splice was an awesome mechanic, as was ninjitsu. Soulshift was a great limited mechanic, Jitte aside kami block was one of the best draft formats ever.

The problem with kami block was there was no mana fixing unless you were green. If you were green you had elder and reach which were amazing, if not you had tendo's ice bridge which is the worst mana fixer ever. Meaning if you were green you could be upto 4 colours otherwise, it was very hard for any non green deck not to be mono coloured, as you just could not get the necessary consistency of mana to be competitive.

Betrayers Kamigawa had the mechanical themes of collecting counters, ki counters in that case. There also were the flip cards that conveyed a theme of gaining exprience. I was especially inspired by Bushi Tenderfoot who had to survive combat to get bigger. So i put those mechanics together using the Leveler template.
I made the card in a frame too. Because levelers are a bit harder to grasp in text.

"P" represents the new mechanic - "pure mana". Pure mana is mana that can be spent as mana of any color, and anything that taps for "mana of any color" (like City of Brass, Birds of Paradise, etc.) would be errated to add pure mana to your mana pool. Pure isn't a color in and of itself, and anything that cost pure mana to cast would be all colors.

For most of the set, pure mana would only appear as costs to activate abilities. There would be a lot of mana fixing in the set, but I'd generally try to keep it fairly expensive - something like adding "3: Add P to your mana pool." to one common in each color or having a cycle of lands with that ability, in order to keep it limited-relevant but not stupid easy to access.

A mechanic for the Oni of Kamigawa. Other cards with this mechanic would probably have fixed numbers and varying abilities tied to the flavor of black, such as drawing cards for life, discard abilities, or effects to a creature's power or toughness.

Correct - you could summon it with two City of Brass, or a City of Brass and a Birds of Paradise, but not with a Sol Ring or even a Black Lotus (since you need to choose one color for all of the mana from Black Lotus).
