Some people say he's underwhelming, but how the hell do you beat him in creature mirrors? 5 loyalty on T3 is A TON. You have to make a lot of awkward attacks to get rid of him.

-2 is an 'okay' situational ability, I honestly think he's a very good card just as a permanent +1/+1 counter machine every turn with a game ending ultimate if you can't deal with him.

turn 2 ajani, turning your birds/pilgrim into a 1/2 or 2/2 seems pretty strong.

if you do this and only put counters on your 1 drop, not only do they have to fight through your future spells, but deal with your 1 drop that gets bigger.

im not sure how relevant the 2nd ability will be..
however that could just be until i get smashed in the face with a 4/5 double strike birds of paradise

this could alsoo fit into any finks/glen elendra deck

you may use +1 ability even if there aren't creatures in battlefield, right? Ajani says "UP to one target creature"

Anyway, you could win on turn 3, attacking with Immolating Souleater!

I sure wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of Avacyn's Pilgrim with flying, double strike, 2 +1/+1 counters, and a SoWaP on turn 4. I also like how he can sneakily hose your opponent's undying.

Turn 1: Forest, Pilgrim
Turn 2: Plains, tap Pilgrim for mana, Ajani, +1/+1 counter
Turn 3: SoWaP +1/+1 counter
Turn 4: -2 on Pilgrim, Equip SoWaP, attack.

Not impossible, or even improbable.

Yes, that is correct.

WoTC designs Planeswalkers so that their +1 ability can always be used.
