A team builds a new deck (or variant of an existing one) that exploits some major weakness in the meta, and it dominates for a few weeks as people frantically figure out its weaknesses. Delver will be solved IF people want to put in the work. |
Delver is around for ~8 months now, and has showen that it can easialy adopt to new questions from other decks, like faeries did back then.
The Problem ist just that flying Wild Natcals in blue are wrong. Its like playing against faeries again were you knew it doesnt matter what you do it will be wrong since they can just handle it. Like faeries the deck is not too good but its really annoying to play against it.
I guess we will see somthing like the stag in M10 but dedicated to delver in M13, altough we already got Cavern which lead to the GR uprising. |

| delver isn't overwhelming as some ppl say. There are plenty of decks that can beat it or at least have a 50-50 chance against it (grixis, rg, ub, flare, etc ). Criers gonna cry..... geez. |

| Delver is annoying, powerfull, but will not get banned... It's nowhere near Jace 2.0 or stoneforge |

What caused us to be discussing this topic anyway? Was there a rumor or an announcement alluding to new bannings?
At any rate, the only thing I could see getting banned would be the new land that hoses counterspells against creatures, and even then, that seems stupid to ban. |

It's been discussed a lot after the last scg opens and after Chapin and S.Black "predicted" a ban coming.
I think it's very possible, especially after wotc openly admitted snapcaster was a big mistake.

Edit. btw i totally agree that cavern of souls is the real problem card, singlehandedly hating out permission control out of the format.
It's not a case we had one of the best standard in ages before AVR was released. |

| Would I like to see bans? Yes. Do I expect to see them? No. But here's hoping Ponder isn't in M13. |

The actual result would probably be either a U/B Control format or an Aggro Humans format. |

Delver has bad or suboptimal matchups IMO. The deck I play never loses against delver unless I get mana screwed, does very well against control and flare, and poorly against ramp and UB Tezzerator. I did very well against Tezz until I added some more tech for Pod-Ramp-Delver, that way I got tech against the most common decks and not against a deck I rarely find.
I know Delver is a pain in the ass but you can get around it with a well planned deck adding hate against it but usable against other decks too. I think even when netdecking saves time you need to get creative sometimes and look for solutions (a little of creative tech)... don't be lazy people... try to think for yourselves... |

| If delver is making up more than half of the meta game, then play a U/R version of Delver which destroys the U/W, U/Rg, U/G and U/B variants. 4 gutshots, 4 bonfire, 4 pillar with Snappy is a good way of keeping opposing delvers and snappys off the board. Even helps with Phant. Images. The other 40 or 30 percent of the meta, is R/G aggro, Naya Pod, U/W control, R/G wolfrun, UB Zombies.....all of these decks is vulnerable to gutshots, pillars and bonfires except U/W control. You might find a UB control but that is rare now days. |

how is RG ramp vulnerable to those spells? And are there UG/UB delver lists?
I find the UR delver list way easier to beat (with me playing RG ramp). |

Well, if he's playing a Delver deck as well, then even if he loses to another Delver deck, his 'deck' still did not lose, because 'Delver' won.
I think... :3
But seriously guys, don't you see? The answer to this problem is not to ban Delver, but to play Delver designed to beat all the other Delver decks. |

| If delver was warping the meta game that much, that the best call was delver decks designed to beat other delver decks then that would be an argument for a banning but as far as i am aware its not. |

| From May 17, Trials/Masters and on. Delver has only appeared once in the T4/T8. What are you complaining about. Play "Whipflare", goodbye Geist, Delver, and Snap. |
