I have installed and reinstalled mws from several different sources and keep getting the same problem. I am using win7 and I have full card pics and .txt both operational. Now I try to make a deck and when I put cards into a deck there is no picture, just the generic brown card back. I save the deck and then try to play a solitaire game and the file is an invalid type. How do I make it a valid file type? Why doesn't the card image appear in my deck screen? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. It was hard enough to get the full pics working, but now I have this problem I've never had before.

I think the best way to approach your problem would be to install everything one step at a time and see where it goes wrong. You can message me on IRC and I'll walk you through it step by step.

Hey I've had the same problem.
Apparently the issue is with some basic lands with the edition key LND or HOP, I don't know where those came from, but they screw everything up.
However, just make sure that when you create a deck you don't put those lands in and you should be fine.

Unless zoom is having serious trouble explaining his problem, this is something else.

Maybe it's something else, but I experienced exactly all the same issues he described, and I fixed it that way.
There's no harm in trying so...

you can generaly check if a deck file is vaild by opening with a texteditor:

valid files should look lik the following:
Some lines may start with "//" those are comments and could contain anything, but aside from those in my example there are none usually.

[start of the file] <- this is not part of the file
// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
____1 [ISD] Plains

// Creatures
____1 [ISD] Chapel Geist
____1 [DKA] Gavony Ironwright

// Spells
____1 [ISD] Brimstone Volley
____1 [ISD] Victim of Night

// Sideboard
SB: 12 [UNH] Plains
SB: 12 [UNH] Swamp
[/end] <- this is not part of the file

Either all lines or no lines have to have expansion abbrevations otherwiese an error is throwen.
If cards or versions of cards were not found in the database, it says so in a popupwindow

//edit: the underlines are subsitutes for whitespaces cause html cuts them out

EMH, its not the land thing, my deck has no lands. all my cards have full pics when they are in the top library screen, but when I move even one card into the deck screen on bottom it only shows a generic card back, the mws default one, not the scan of a magic card back. I'm wondering if someone can give me links to the sites where they get there masterbase and avacyn restored full pics. It's probably something to do with how and where I am installing the files but I've tried everything I know how.

That was one of the downloads I tried. I did figure out the problem though. I was actually doing it right the whole time, however this was the first time I've done this using win7. You absolutely must save mws to C:\MWS or it won't work. I thought I did this the first time but apparently not. Thanks to everyone for your help. I really appreciate it.

No need to install to that folder ... what happened is that there were residues of previous installations.
To solve this was to just follow these steps:
