I will make this brief.

Make a card, that contains either "instead" or "can't".

That is all.

The card should be playable in standard but does not need to be a centerpiece of the meta. If it is fine, but don't make it broken.
And as allways less can be more.

Judging will happen with grades in the following categories:
-creativity
-power level
-flavor
-complexity

Happy building!

Mischievious Sprite
GGG
Creature - Sprite (M)
Whenever a permanent or spell you control is targeted by a spell or ability an opponent controls, you choose a new target for that spell or ability instead. (The new target must be legal)

Whenever a player would have their second main phase of a turn, that player has a second draw step instead.

Focus on Growth 1G
Enchantment (Rare)

If you would draw a card, you may search your library for a basic land and put it onto the battlefield tapped instead. If you do, shuffle your library.

A vine is a terrible thing to waste.

I like the idea of this card! It has vast, VAST potential to be abused, however. Maybe put it on a creature instead, making it more prone to removal? Or a higher casting cost... but it wouldn't be as useful if it weren't 2cc. So... maybe a critter for it to be viable in print? Name it - Aardvark of Growth. Creature - Aardvark. Same rules text. Same flavour text. 2/2?

Dead Silence (5)

Artifact - Mythic

Players can't play spells.

"You really don't want to open your mouth with this thing around. Oh sh..." - Unknown planeswalker's last words.

Image would be a somewhat deserted and "silent" landscape, with a strange shadow figurine lurking somewhere you can barely see (like the "when you see it you will shit bricks" type of pictures. Name and flavor inspired from the synonymous movie - also fits with Innistrad's horror theme Smile .

Valhalla, Hall of Gods

Legendary Land (M)

Valhalla, Hall of Gods comes into play tapped.

T, pay 2 life: Add W to your mana pool.

T, pay 5 life: Add WW to your mana pool. If that mana is spent on a creature spell with a converted mana cost of seven or more, that spell can't be countered by spells or abilities.

If you have 5 or less life, transform Valhalla, Hall of Gods.

-----------------------------------

Odin, Voice of War and Wisdom (White)

Legendary Creature - Avatar

Hexproof, Trample

If Odin, Voice of War and Wisdom would deal combat damage to an opponent, destroy that many permaments instead.

Odin only leaves his domain when he absolutely must. Everytime he does so, the world is shaped anew.

dude... the Valhalla//Odin concept is awesome - but Odin's must-destroy-everything ability is just devastating. That means if you can't *choose* any of the opponent's permanents, you'd have to choose your own permanents. That, and he can't damage players (cuz of the instead clause). How about "that opponent sacrifices that many permanents or loses that much life"?

Thank you, I was really shocked that it hadn't been done already.

@Valhalla: Neat card, but it's a t2 combo win if printed in standard.

I made that on purpose. If the card was as you said, it would be absolutely broken. This way, not only you cant actually win with Odin alone, but you must also be careful otherwise you'll destroy your own permanents.

No it isnīt a t2 win in standard because Odin doesnt deal damage, it destroys permanents. That way, if you combo it with souleater or whatever on t2, he will destroy everything, including souleater and every land, yours and opponent's.

Odin is a late-game do-or-die card, if he hits you opp late game, you win; if your opp has a response (of any kind, basically) you pretty much lose...

Disrupted Ritual
Casting Cost: 1UW
Rarity: Rare
Type: Enchantment

Players can't cast non creature spells. If a Player plays a creature spell, they MAY pay 2 and that creature comes into play with haste instead.

Flavor: " We lost all hope before the great war. We were lucky to her ritual was disrupted."
