I've just been wondering why the tempered steel artifact deck lists that I have seen online are running vector asp over flayer husk. I'm curious as to why this is. If the deck just needs one more 1 drop then why not have a 1/1 body that sticks around as an equipment after? Does the infect ability of the vector asp come up often enough to make it the supperior 1 drop?[/list]

just a quick thought, maybe because playing no nonartifacts (keep in mind, that the gem is a black creature) you turn gftt into a completely dead card.. might be wrong on this one, just saying

EDIT:
lol, yeah, being a black nonartifact creature, steel doesn't pump the germ token at all ;D

That could be but it still doesn't seem worth it to me cus you are still left with the equipment and your opponent isn't gonna keep those after sb just to half kill potential flayer husks.

i replaced my vector asps with more chimeric mass. It's a bit more mana hungry but it avoids the board sweepers and fits your curve no matter when you draw it.

Ahhhhh right, the husk isnt an artifact creature. Now it makes sense. The asp just seems like a damn week one drop. I'd prefer the mass but then again I haven't tested the deck.

i've tested the deck alot today, and the asp is actually a really good 1 drop. having a 3/3 for 1 mana when you have tempered out is REALLY good and it often won me matches

Asp is decent but not optimal, Mass gives you more tricks with glimpse hawk, avoids board sweepers and they are solid plays on any turn

Sacrifice Heap Doll : Exile target card in a graveyard.

thats not in t2 sir.

mass is not as optimal as asp is u are running the build with unifide will and spell pierce. those builds u need to keep mana up and mass is counter to this plan, yeah mass costs 1 mana 2 activate but for it to count toward wills it makes will cost 3 sometimes 4 and spell pierce to cost 2. and thats to much mana for this deck.
