Two un-related questions:

1. Let's say I have out a Forest and a Noble Heirarch. I want to cast a Goyf. I tap the forest, then I tap the Noble. My opponent then, with instant speed, Lightning Bolts the Heirarch. What would be in my mana pool? I'm guessing only the G from the Forest but wanted to be sure. And if the Bolt does "counter" the mana production, out of curiosity, would such a move have given me a mana burn from the Forest when it existed (assuming I don't have any G spell)?

2. How is life gain calculated if I have out multiple Boon Reflections (if you would gain life, gain twice as much)? For ease of calculation, lets say I'm gaining 2 life. Would I:

a. Gain 6? (2 + [another 2] + [another 2])

b. Gain 8? (2 + [another 2] + [twice the gain thus far])

c. Gain 4? (Both triggers are simultaneous and therefore additional copies in play are essentially blanks)

Geez, put that one on the M:tG SATs!

Thanks! Smile

1. Timing is key, since its during the main phase respectively you can tap and store mana and it won't empty, giving you basically unlimited time to play your spell with the mana saved your mana pool for that specific phase of the turn. Unless mana doesn't empty until the very end of the turn you'll have no problems playing your green spell. Turns out you'll have 2 mana or 2G, because you can tap the creature in response to the effect of lighting bolt and still have mana left in your mana pool.

2. Cumulative ruling for Boon Reflections. 5/1/2008: The effects of multiple Boon Reflections are cumulative. For example, if you have three Boon Reflections on the battlefield, you'll gain eight times the original amount of life.

Ex. You gain 20 life "boon" makes it doubled so its 40.
For multiples you simple multiply an x2. Ex. ?x2x2 = ? Multiplying 2 for each one, and that in a formula would be cumulative.

If you have if you have 4 that will be multiplied as such 20x2x2x2x2=?

Ok correct em if i am right on this but it should work liek this.

the whole tapping for GG would go like this.
Forest taps
the Heirarch taps
bolts at the Heirarch

you would still have GG because

the ability still goes onto the stack. the only way they could stop it is with a counter ability spell.

I may be wrong on that.

yes two mana will be in the pool just to clarify nobel hiearchs second ability ( the one that is not exalted and taps for mana) is a mana ability... this means that the opponent can't respond to it even as this doesn't use the stack

112.4 - Some activated abilities and some triggered abilities are mana abilities. Mana abilities follow special rules: They don't use the stack, and, under certain circumstances, a player can activate mana abilities even if he or she doesn't have priority. See Rule 605, "Mana Abilities." [CompRules 2009/07/08]

@1 Your opponent is not allowed to do that. Since you have priority at that time (tapping for mana does not give your opponent priority). This is a mistake a lot of people make, you CAN'T respond to someone playing a land or tapping a land or creature for mana. What you can do is respond to things that trigger of such things like landfall.

@2 its 8. another one would give you 16.
