alchemist seems week...most 2 drops are better and if your playing him your not countering spells? IDK hows testing it? plus if you cut them you could cut the posts as well

also, 4 duress, 4 pierces and 4 countersqualls is way too much

This decks creatures are meant to be removal of other creatures, so unless my opponent is aggro, I still usually give him a hard time with my 3 drops, in this format the only aggresive one drops are lacerator and guide.

I agree I have too many non creature counters, but the creatures in the deck are geared specifically for removing creatures from the board, however, 12 non creature counters does "feel" a little unnecessary

So I am going to playtest with the control "Theme" and remove countersquall for couriers capsule. I am not making this a permanent change because duress doesnt catch topdecks and neither does spell pierce, usually if theyre topdecking they have surplus mana to use.

I suppose the deck would win metagame vs decks that use creatures to win, even sphinx of Juwar, because it gets sacrificed.

Also, what do you guys think of Soul manipulation over scatter essence? it brings my creature hating creatures back to my hand and it can counter a spell too.

I think it'd be funny to keep negate in the sb for the second and third game, just because people who would keep 2 mana open for it would get a suprise Very Happy

Here's the deck in current playtesting:

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
4 [M10] Drowned Catacomb
8 [M10] Island (1)
8 [M10] Swamp (1)

// Creatures
4 [ALA] Viscera Dragger
4 [CFX] Sedraxis Alchemist
4 [ZEN] Gatekeeper of Malakir
3 [ALA] Fleshbag Marauder
2 [ZEN] Sphinx of Jwar Isle

// Spells
4 [ZEN] Spell Pierce
4 [M10] Duress
4 [M10] Jace Beleren
3 [ARB] Mistvein Borderpost
4 [ALA] Courier's Capsule
4 [ARB] Soul Manipulation

// Sideboard
SB: 4 [M10] Essence Scatter
SB: 4 [M10] Deathmark
SB: 4 [M10] Negate
SB: 3 [M10] Doom Blade

EDIT: SB needs to be fixed with Hexmage vs planeswalkers, somebody call me when Urza gets printed, i'll have to buy a playset to rub one out on, and then another to use, it will be 4 urzas, 4 scute mobs, 4 dream thrush, and 48 basic lands. I once had a deck that owned with dreamthrush, used the same principles as the seas/mirage synergy, cept it was in invasion block.

also i chose couriers over sign because its a blue permanent and i need em for sedraxis, that and its a cheap spell, keeps mana open.

No fuck ior, playtested it and it never went off, fuck it.

Viscera feels out of place in this deck, any synergistic suggestions?
Powercards for example?

First impression, pull those and place in a jwar and 3 black planeswalkers... of some kind, or something strong.

beginning to hate playtesting this, loses to anything creature heavy easily.

Too much aggro in the meta to stay alive, creature removal is too slow T_T

Going to scrap this idea, any notes?

Ok tell me why you guys LOVE agony warp.

Doesnt feel like much more than a terror/doomblade that also prevents 3 damage

Any ideas to get this idea working again or is it just done ;p

It 2-for-1s the opponent.

He attacks with two first striking 2/2 knights, you block with your Gatekeeper, then -3/-0 the blocked creature and -0/-3 the unblocked. Voila, a timewalk 2-for-1. One of the best removals in the format, for decks that have small creatures to block with.

You may have to face the fact that UB aggro-control does not have the tools necessary to survive in this format. I want it to succeed, but other than that I have already said what I wanted to say about the deck.

Castle would answer stags, and add beats late game...

I'll give agony warp a shot... but playtesting here is slow, so many decks, and literally in both cases, so little time.

Its just easier for me to design ideas to get people thinking, feel free to tweak anything i post yourself.
