I try to make it as less disappointing as possible: Jund is the best T2 deck and Vampires are nothing, a trash pile in comparison th it.

Play Jund or lose to it. This is Type 2 in MtG right now.
There is no card that helps in this MU because Jund has already the very best cards from T2 all in one mighty steamrolling package.

You can attempt to outbeat them via discard from Mind Rot to Mind Sludge....maybe Lillian Vess to aid in that discard process or Sorin Markov as the 6th drop after it...

Besides that though...really your options are limited because of the mono color choice...Haunting Echoes could be played to remove cards from the library that may show up as possibly good cascade options but your really putting yourself available after casting it.

It might not be a bad approach to go into R/B lands that way you can possibly go into thought hemorrhage, Blightning, or any other means of helping you deck out...

If everyone is playing Jund at your store, Vampires is a poor choice.

Vampires is an extremely solid deck, however, it doesn't have the tools to beat Jund reliably. If you choose to ignore this, then Deathmark/Tendrils.

Vampires are just not cut out to beat Jund for now at least. But the R/B version seems to have promise in defeating the games newest most dominate play toy.

extremely solid decks don't rely on the top card being black abilities and creatures that mostly get crushed by all sweepers in the format, sans nocturnus and nighthawk who can all get bolted, pathed etc.

The more control-oriented (higher card power) mono black is, the better it becomes.

Mono red and mono white are both faster than Vampires. The new Carnophage is good, but Bloodghast is better in the long run than early on. Vampires wins when it has 3 or more vampires out, then drops a Nocturnus flipping a black card. Other than that, it is outpowered and outpaced by all the other aggro decks, including Jund.

In other words - what is it that makes Vamps good apart from the Nocturnus FTW move? Bloodghast, Tendrils, Mind Sludge, Duress, Sign in Blood. Write down how many times you go Lacerator, Bloodghast, Nighthawk, Nocturnus gg... compared to how many times you just manage to save your butt with Tendrils' lifegain, a well placed Duress/Sludge/Infest or Sorin Markov... and do the math.

I play tested this a bit because my friend chose vampires.

Basically you must land turn 5 mind sludge and then your chances of winning are pretty good.

Vampires has a good shot at beating Jund actually, so long as it lands turn 5 mindsludge which usually knocks 4 removal spells out of the Jund player's hand and leaves them with nothing.

If you play first game 1, mind sludge turn 5, you should win.

If you side up to 3 or 4 mind sludge you can win game 2 or 3.

Vampires is not a bye for Jund by any means.

That said, I've never lost to vampires with Jund but I think that's because they don't run enough Mind Sludges.

On the other hand, the Jund player should side in 3 thought hermorage and name mind sludge.

The game really comes down to mind sludge.

It's not that simple. If you play the Mind Sludge vs. Blightning game and both of you end up on top deck mode, jund has the advantage, since most of their cards plays like two cards (cascades, trinax, broodmate dragon). Additionally, after the first Mind Sludge the others are dead draw. I think the correct number is 3.

About Deathmark. Good removal, but trading 1 or 1 with the card advantage deck isn't game breaking. When it takes down the leech early on is ok, but terribly bad for a top deck when reptiles are biting you...

That said, this match should be 65% for jund or more...

i enjoy sadistic sacrament, it never happens but get it kicked it destroys most of everything a jund deck has against you. mind sludge works great. I had some pretty epic games against jund with my vampire deck.. at the time i wasnt running mind sludge but to get a jund deck topdecking is nice.
