I hate playtesting on MWS nowadays because of the sheer unreliability of the players on there, so I'd really like to get into trials and such on here so I can enjoy competitive play again. Most of the good players from my group are off at college and busy. I seem to recall an article on getting yourself set up for trials and what you'll need and such. If one could just provide a link to it, that'd be great. Otherwise, let me know what I need to do! Thanks!

Maybe I was unclear (I'm not up-to-speed on what you guys call the tournaments on here) I meant tournaments in general. I seem to recall needing a chat client of sorts?

Yes, there is a chat room. It is where you start chatting with whoever you're paired against, as well ass seeing timers, and connecting with the judges. You can use mIRC or the java link on the side.

Process in full:

Minis (normal tournaments, 8 mans) entries will be posted on the main page as such:
Entries are open for (Format of mini). (Judge's Name) is running. Entries are open for (Remaining Time) Join.

Simply click join on the mini you wish to enter, it will prompt you to open a deck file from your MWS deck files.

It will then confirm you are entered and it will show you a copy of your decklist so you can confirm it is the deck you wish to play.

Then, enter the chat room from the Chat & Play Room link on the left. Connect to the chatrooms and wait for the Judge to post pairings.

PM the person you are paired with, choose an MWS server you wish to connect via, and voila.

You need to download mIRC and join the magic-league channel. There is a guide to it on the magic-league homepage.

After that watch the magic-league homepage and the mIRC channel for tournaments to start.

Make sure you create your deck before you see the tournaments starting becuase they fill fast.

Mini's appear every once in a while and are in various formats and are usually 8 people. Trials appear on a scheduled time and don't have a limit. They usually get near 100 people. Also almost all of the tournaments are single elimination.
