| I play (whatever) spell while my opponent has arcane laboratory, and counters my spell. At that point did that first spell count as my 1 spell per turn, or do i get to cast another spell because the first was countered. |

| playing a spell just means choosing targets, paying costs, and putting it on the stack. Anything that happens after that does not change the fact that a spell was played. So you still do not get to play another spell |

Arcane Laboratory is in play. So no, you can't cast more than one spell per turn.
Locking this before it gets out of hand. |
