When you want to play a league match

(For the purpose of this primer, we'll assume the intended format is T2)

If you are asking for a league match :

1. Load your deck on a server, crtl c (copy) the server name, and create a game that says "T2 league". Make sure your MWS Nick is the same as your ML Nick.

2. Set your Browser to the "Singles Matches". Set the Rating Category to "Constructed", and the format description to T2.

3. Ask for a league match in the #magic-league channel on IRC.

4. When someone PM's you accepting the challenge, ctrl v (paste), the link to the server where you are currently waiting then type, "I'll challenge, waiting".

5. Copy the challenging players Nick, go to your browser, and past your opponents nick in the "Opponent's site username" box and hit the "Challenge" command key.

6. Wait for opponent to join.

If you are accepting a request for a league match :

1. PM the challenger saying, "T2 league, I accept."

2. Copy your opponents Nick.

3. Open MWS and load your deck. Hit the "Start Game" command key.

4. Open your Browser to the "Single Matches" page. Set the Rating Category to "Constructed", and the format description to T2. Paste your opponents Nick in the "Opponent's site username" box.

5. If your opponent hasn't responded set up a game of your own, copy the server name, and wait for a response.

Overview

Whether accepting or issuing a challenge, you should be prepared to set the challenge/game up as well as be prepared to join/create the game. This simplifies and speeds up the process. Always have your MWS Nick the same as your ML Nick to avoid confusion and cut down on mistaken identity.

If you aren't ready to play correctly and efficiently and are simply testing or playing a casual deck, I suggest MWSPlay. If you want to test for a Trial, play league matches and follow the rules and structure that you would expect to find in a Trial.
