So I have been messing around with this deck a little and was hoping for some help. It relies on Bloom Tender's interaction with the boarder posts. It has had mixed results so far. I am looking for ways to speed up the deck vs mono red burn and kithken as well as ideas for the sideboard.

// Lands
1 [SHM] Fire-Lit Thicket
1 [EVE] Flooded Grove
10 [SHM] Forest (3)
1 [ALA] Island (1)
1 [ALA] Mountain (2)
2 [SHM] Sunken Ruins
1 [M10] Swamp (1)
1 [EVE] Twilight Mire

// Creatures
4 [M10] Birds of Paradise
4 [EVE] Bloom Tender
3 [M10] Borderland Ranger
4 [ALA] Broodmate Dragon
2 [SHM] Kitchen Finks

// Spells
4 [ALA] Cruel Ultimatum
4 [ARB] Firewild Borderpost
4 [M10] Garruk Wildspeaker
4 [ARB] Mistvein Borderpost
3 [ARB] Trace of Abundance
4 [ARB] Veinfire Borderpost
2 [ALA] Violent Ultimatum

4 Cruel Ultimatum? Very Happy LOL...

You should play Fallout/Infest/Earthquake to have a chance against aggro. 12 Borderposts are too many! Maximum 8 if you really want to play them. I would leave the Bloom Tender+Borderpost line and go for real Ramp. (Fertile Ground, Trace of Abundance, Borderland Ranger, Rampart Growth for mana accel, Fallout, Garruk, Broodmate, 1 Cruel Ultimatum, Bogardan Hellkite, Finks, Maelstrom Pulse, Shriekmaw, Mannequin, maybe Chameleon Colossus and Anathemancer)

Thanks but I would rather try something different than all the net decks. If we only used them than nothing new would ever be created. I have been trying Nicol Bolas with the deck and can get him out 4th turn with regularity. The Bloom Tender can get 4 or 5 man third turn and almost always gets at least 3. The border posts are not only nice for the dual land factor but also can be hard casted for added acceleration. Because of the Birds and Blooms I can't really use standard wennie kill like Fallout/Infest/Earthquake so I am tring to find something different. The current version looks like this.

// Lands
1 [M10] Swamp (1)
1 [ALA] Mountain (2)
1 [ALA] Island (1)
1 [SHM] Fire-Lit Thicket
2 [EVE] Flooded Grove
2 [EVE] Twilight Mire
8 [SHM] Forest (3)

// Creatures
2 [SHM] Kitchen Finks
4 [M10] Birds of Paradise
4 [CFX] Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
4 [M10] Borderland Ranger
4 [EVE] Bloom Tender
4 [ALA] Broodmate Dragon

// Spells
2 [ARB] Trace of Abundance
4 [M10] Garruk Wildspeaker
4 [ALA] Cruel Ultimatum
4 [ARB] Firewild Borderpost
4 [ARB] Mistvein Borderpost
4 [ARB] Veinfire Borderpost

Main problem I see is too much mana accel and not enough big threats to capitalize.

18 lands + 8 borderposts + 14 accel = too much

Furthermore you want some early game board sweeps and/or more blockers.

4 Bolas won't help you until at least turn 5, by which time, against aggro, you're dead.

Okay, so Borderposts are equivalents to lands essentially.

You only need one land to start dropping borderposts

As such, you have 18 lands, and 12 borderposts, and 4 Birds of Paradise, Bloom Tender, and the borderland ranger.

Instead, run 14 lands, 12 borderposts, 4 birds, 4 bloom tender, and 4 Primal command. Once you ramp up with all this mana, you should use the Primal Command to find your best kill cards, Broodmate dragon, or perhaps even Bogardan Hellkite.

Cruel ultimatum should be a 3 of to reliably draw 1 a game (you shouldn't need more than 1). Violent Ultimatum is nice, but you could run bigger creature bombs...

The mana base looks shaky, but I see the basics interacting with the Borderland Ranger...don't think its necessary though.

Run Maelstrom Pulse/Volcanic Fallout over Kitchen finks, as mass removal will keep you alive better than finks, imo.

This deck is too much fun to play with!

Here is my list I've been using, tricky thing for me has been working in more blue mana, so I changed the mana base a little...

// Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com)

// Lands
9 [LRW] Forest (3)
3 [SHM] Island (2)

// Creatures
4 [LRW] Mulldrifter
3 [SHM] Kitchen Finks
3 [CFX] Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
4 [EVE] Bloom Tender
4 [ALA] Broodmate Dragon
4 [M10] Birds of Paradise

// Spells
3 [ARB] Trace of Abundance
4 [ARB] Maelstrom Pulse
3 [ALA] Cruel Ultimatum
4 [ARB] Firewild Borderpost
4 [ARB] Veinfire Borderpost
4 [ARB] Mistvein Borderpost
4 [LRW] Fertile Ground

Any comments or suggestions for a sideboard, or changes to the mainboard?

since the borderposts have come out i've been taught by some local "good" players that you should just count the borderposts as a land.

well the probability of u drawing a hand with 5 border posts in ur starting hand is slim to none.

Why the hell would you want to play borderposts rather than land?

I can't think of a situation where I would rather have a Borderpost than a land, except if I play March of the Machines.

I really hope you test a deck before playing it, at least just some sample hands, otherwise you're in for a lot of unpleasant surprises at competitive events. Sad

well right now i don't really play competitively in person, but i do test before i use a deck in a trial...

The reason you play borderposts is so the Bloom Tender can pump out mana. It is not uncommon to get a 3rd turn Broodmate Dragon or 4th turn Nicol Bolas with this deck.

What if you drop your bolas to 1 or 2 and broodmate to 2 or 3 only use 2 trance of abundance and add brilliant ultimatum clarion ultimatum and violent ultimatums.

Then the deck wouldn't even be worth testing at all because it would be horribly constructed.

Does Tezzet have a place in here with all of the boarder posts?
