Just because there are two in play, they won't magically start making mana off of each other.

It works just like controlling two Reflecting Pools, i.e. they don't make any mana at all.

Speaking of which, if I have Reflecting Pool and Mutavault, can I make colourless mana with my Pool? Pool says "any color" so do I have to have a colour first or will colourless do?

Reflecting pool does not says "any color", it says "any type."
Colorless mana is a type of mana, so with a Mutavault, Reflecting pool can add colorless.
