With the new duels introduces in the upcoming core set along with the reprinted planeswalkers and the totally new cards (for the first time in a core set), I expect it to be a set with a lot of good rares. I have seen playsets of the entire set for $399 to $420 on ebay. Every time a new set comes out I love opening a case and seeing what I get and getting many cool foils, but $400 seems to cheap to pass up. What would you do? Am I expecting too much of this new core set?

I would never shell out $400 for a set we only know 20% of the cards from, even with the dual lands.

already listed are....

ajani goldmane
jace baleren
lillana vess (could somehow become good with a dramatic format change....who knows)

Vampire Nocturnus
Creature - Vampire
Play with the top card of your library revealed.
As long as the top card of your library is black, Vampire Nocturnus and other Vampire creatures you control get +2/+1 and have flying.
3/3

ball lightning
chandra
birds of paradise
garruk wildspeaker

5 duel lands never seen before = at least $100 at $5 a piece

and like u said......that is only 20% of the set

$399 was a week ago. looking at ebay now i doubt i will find anything close to that again. bushviper u r an idiot for thinking $400 is too much considering ive already listed $400 worth of cards with 4/5 of the set unnamed so far but im a much bigger idiot for not buying it for $399 while i had the chance

The Dark? Wasn't that one of those sets where the card designers got stoned and threw a bunch of janky cards together, thinking something along the lines of, "I'm sure the players will find something useful to do with these."?

Am I the only one that noticed the reprint of Lightning Bolt to be something weird? I mean, is Wizards trying to bring to Standard an equal power level that that of Extended?

The new rumor is that Lightning Bolt is making a comeback this set.

current prices are 700 with Mythics, and 400 without Mythics..

So lets reevaluate that, I think you may have misread the item that was up for sale...

Is it still worth it to get it for 700? or even the 400 dollar set?

Using current prices taken from the autocard website's lowest prices, here is what you can expect to get...

4 x garruk @ 15$
4 x ajani @ 15$
4 x lilana @ 8$
4 x chandra @ 4$
4 x Jace @ 15$
4 x Birds @ 10$
4 x Ball Lightning (approx a little less ) @ 8$
4 x 5 lands @ 5$ (average between painland and rav shockland)
4 x duress @ 2$

= 60+60+60+40+32+16+32+100+8 = 408...not bad, without any of the other mythics released yet and 80% of the set to go...

I think those other cards will be able to give up $300 of value

Not confirmed 100% till we see a printed card from the way I see it. I've seen other supposedly confirmed things be wrong before.
