So I have toying with the idea of Jund Rock. The basic idea is to play the best spells in GRB. There are some cards that I wanted to play like, Profane Command, Banefire, and Broodmate Dragon. Differant reasons. The one card that I am unsure of is Civic Wayfinder. I like the deck thinning and extra land drop from him. The 2/2 body for three mana has me questioning this card. Though cascading into Civic Wayfinder is a three for one. I would like to find another beater that is */3 and produces card advantage. So here is the list.

4 x Treetop Village
4 x Savage Lands
4 x Gilt-Leaf Palace
4 x Auntie's Hovel
3 x Mountain
3 x Swamp
1 x Forest

4 x Wren's Run Vanquisher
4 x Civic Wayfinder
4 x Kitchen Finks
4 x Bloodbraid Elf
2 x Chameleon Colossus

4 x Nameless Inversion
4 x Maelstrom Pluse
4 x Blightning
4 x Volcanic Fallout
3 x Thought Hemorage

SB: 3 x Pithing Needle
SB: 3 x Deathmark
SB: 3 x Vithian Renegades
SB: 3 x Shriekmaw
SB: 2 x Sarkhan Vol
SB: 1 x Loxodon Warhammer

I feel that the side is pretty solid and the only card that is really up for changing is Pithing Needle. It is not helpful in about 4/10 matches. I would like my side to be useful in 6/10 matches. I am guessing that my Fae and BW Tokens matches will be kind of bad. (Read as 40/60 post side) Filligree Fracture and Terminate may be the right call over Pithing Needle and Vithian Renegades. That would shore up the two matches a lot.

Well I did think about Sproting Thranx for that slot. Running Thranx in that slot would need a mana base change up to 24 lands. That would mean I could only run 3 of them. This is fine as it will eat a Path to Exile most of the time and I will still get my land drop.

Where Sprouting Thranx really shines is vs red or black removal. That would make him a meta call. Sprouting Thranx in a red/black meta forces Volcanic Fallout/Infest after removal making him a 2-3/1 trade. As we are in an undefined meta, he did not make the cut. Civic Wayfinder always gets a you +1 card and sometimes +2 if he eats a Path to Exile.

So any other ideas?

The theme is def card advantage. Blightning, Maeltrom Pluse, Volcanic Fallout, Bloodbraid Elf, Civic Wayfinder, Kitchen Finks, and Thought Hemorage. Even with all of the card advantage, I think that the deck could still produce savage beatings.

Turn three could do things like, beat with Wren's Run Vanquisher and Blightning. 6 damage plus 2 cards is pretty good. Then you get turn 4 Bloodbraid Elf into another Blightning or Volcanic Fallout.

How has thought hemerage been doing? I play tested it alot in a more controlish version of your deck and did not like it at all, even with blightnings.. really seems like a waste in a more mid range aggro deck.. I feel like you would be better off doing something with more impact with 4 mana. Bloodbraid elf, CC, even some of the 3 drops. I'd SB it for control / limited win con decks

However, I would consider A-Mancer. Hes clutch, even if hes just a 2/2 for 3 that shocks people when he comes into play, thats pretty good. I've been main decking them in anything that plays B/R and its pretty good.

Though, it does get hit by fallout.

Also, I don't like the Cascade elf + Wrens interactions very much..but im guessing that what all the elves are there for ( nameless ~ )

I recommend anathemancer as the beater you're looking for.

Wren's Run Vanquisher is a beating vs 5 Color Control. As he eats their Wall of Reverance. Cascading into Wren's Run Vanquisher should not be much of an issue with the elves in the deck.

Nameless Inversion is the goto answer to Forge Tender. When are folks going to figure out that Stillmoon and en-Vec are better?

I don't have any doubts about Nameless or Wrens being clutch. Would just not want to cascade into one with no elves Sad

Anyways, Anathemancer is def worth a shot, possible

+3 A-Mancer
-3 Thought Hem.

I know it clogs up the 3 drop slot alot, but its a nice cascade.

What about Ram Gangs? Hes a beating too

I could test it both ways. As for the Ram-Gang, it would be a solid answer to Kitchen Finks.
It does have the upside to being a Goblin and that helps the mana base. I would play Ram-Gang over Anathemancer though.

So I guess that the core of the deck is solid. If I move Thought Hemorage to the side taking the place of Pithing Needle. It would need to be replaced with a spell.

Shouldn't you play Incinerate over Nameless? When you cascade you may have to kill your elf with Nameless. I can see how nameless can help against BFT.

You can opt not to cast the cascaded card.

Well I am thinking that Thought Hemorage slot will be Terminate or Incinerate.

I'd probably go with incinerate as you have maelstrom pulse / nameless for the creature removal

Incinerate will still hit like 75% of creatures played and can hit to the dome

I am going to test it both ways this weekend. I have not even played this list yet. Thought Hemorage vs Incinerate is a tuff call to make.
