This tuesday i will be purchasing either tog or chant. I would ask you to help me with my decision. I've decided that if chant, the version i will use will be the 1st place deck in the Grand Prix held in Japan recently. Im not sure of the tog deck i shoudl use if any. Please help me decide on which deck to play, and the variant of tog (with list attached) if i choose to play tog. Thanks

My advice is, don't play chant unless your a very very good player. Don't just assume that if you buy a good deck the skill to play it will come with it. If you were to buy one i would advise buying U/B tog or Dredgatog that uses putrefy's. Take the Psychatog build you like and edit it to the current meta. Also, the cards in each deck are only there because of THAT meta. With each tourny the meta shifts. You need to make a prediction of the meta for that tourny. My prediction would be to expect alot of Aggro rock

I'm not really sure about Tog/Scepter, but I think Nuijten's Tog list is the best I've seen. I would play that if I were going to play Tog.

What do you all feel about Ogura's deck list. I feel that may be the best tog build i've seen in a while that is not heavily influenced on meta.

Between the 2 options both decks are hard to play. Id recomend testing... and I dont mean on ml, I mean with real cards againest the real meta, for at least 2 weeks to get the feel of the deck and learn tricks to beat the other decks in the meta. (IE Scepter/Counterspell vs rock = very good, againest affinity its a horrible waste of a scepter)

I personally think both decks are very viable in the current format. The problem with scepter is there is still random affinity hate. The problem with tog is its the most played or most desired to play deck in the format and the most expected.

If I were going to hand a deck to a friend to play, I'd hand them tog over scepter because it isnt as straight forward (game plan definetly changes on what you have in your hand and what kind of hate you think they have pre and post board).

BTW I would expect a lot of tog, boros deck wins, and affinity. They are the 3 main decks right now, and the decks that you would tech againest.

Ogura's list is good, also. I think it would be better if he had included an Imp, though.

How can chant beat BDW? Play tog. Fast Meta, tog is better. U/B will be expected as the better deck, so plau dredgatog

i think chant is the better deck for any meta. granted both decks are hard to play in that you have to noe your stuff ie. what to counter, when to kill when to attack ect... but i think chant is harder. it does what tog does but has to also protect its win condition, aka scepter.

i belive scepter is the better deck because there are times were it just dosnt lose. u get anything on scepter and it more or less could b gg for ur opp.

Well , scepter isn´t the only way to win the games... u have decree and eternal dragon also....

I prefer scepter because in general terms scepter has a better performance against the most played decks of the environment ( boros, aff and tog) but u must playtest a lot

Chant is a far better ptq deck. Chant gets an auto win vs. BDW and Goblins game 1 as long as you resolve a Chant on a scepter, and if you play the version with Helix's over Fire/Ice that SCG.com has been advertising, you have a better match-up vs. Aggro Rock and other Aggro decks.

ive been testing, with U/b ruel tog with, one twist (took out one mental note for stinks)

ive beat affinity 4-0 all games with needle in play, seems unreal, but i luck sacked the first game we played and after board itr just gets easier.

2-1 vs b/g aggro, this match up isnt as bad as affinity but they put in too much hand disruption againest and have no pressure. ive did more but i gotta do the master l8r.

I have been playing ruel tog alot lately and i rarely lose to a septer deck due to boomerangs or permition. if the oppenent knows how to play it, things are alittle tougher but tog just seems to beat it consistantly enough, for me at least
