|
|
I haven't played magic in a long, long time, but i remember an old t1 deck known as "The Deck." The following is the most recent list i could find:
Lands
3 City of Brass
1 Island
2 Polluted Delta
1 Flooded Strand
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Strip Mine
4 Wasteland
1 Tundra
4 Volcanic Island
3 Underground Sea
Creatures
2 Gorilla Shaman
1 Morphling
Artifacts
1 Black Lotus
1 Crucible of Worlds
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring
Instants
4 Brainstorm
1 Cunning Wish
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Skeletal Scrying
1 Stroke of Genius
1 Ancestral Recall
4 Mana Drain
4 Force of Will
1 Red Elemental Blast
2 Swords to Plowshares
Sorceries
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Mind Twist
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Balance
1 Time Walk
1 Regrowth
Sideboard
1 Blue Elemental Blast
1 Circle of Protection: Red
1 Darksteel Colossus
1 Tinker
1 Fire/Ice
1 Disenchant
2 Pyroblast
1 Red Elemental Blast
1 Skeletal Scrying
1 Shattering Pulse
2 Gorilla Shaman
1 Diabolic Edict
1 Zuran Orb
How could this deck be updated for today's vintage? Is it still a plausible archetype? |

| Wouldn't be worth it. Until about 4 or so years ago Landstill was good and was a lot like THE DECK in the way it controlled the match but now the closest to that is maybe Stax or Tog or Gifts. |

its missing a card somewhere in the maindeck, but I don't know what. I haven't tested the deck or anything (not much of a Eternal player) but Time Vault + Voltaic Key for free turns until you bash their face in with 5/5 Moxen sounds fun. |

| Tezzy is the closest thing you'll have to "The Deck". As for winning with the combo, I play this deckly weekly in a vintage tourny (most decks running full 9) and some weeks i dont even play tezzy, you dont need it to win. Its kind of the cute way to win. Usually just tinker up collosus and win. |

| Inkwell is not better, shroud adds little as most decks your playing against dont play swords for its really just echoing truth. Also if they get an edict effect off you get DS back in the library for the later game y will to tinker to scoup phase. Your not going to hard cast Inkwell out of your GY |

from what ive seen, a resolved edict means a game loss to the colossus/leviathan player so that argument is moot imho |
