I'm working on my merfolk/wizards deck which I named Shake and Bake cause... well... i'm just too sleepy for good names.
Basicly, it's the old merfolks with Archmage/Sage of Fables "combo".
I'd like some suggestions since i've been out of the metagame since Alara came out.

Here's the decklist:

15 Island
4 Mystic Gate
4 Wanderwine Hub
3 Sage of Fables
2 Sower of Temptation
4 Cursecatcher
3 Glen Elendra Archmage
4 Stonybrook Banneret
1 Mirror Entity
1 Sygg, River Guide
4 Merrow Reejerey
3 Ponder
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Cryptic Command
4 Sage's Dousing

// Sideboard:
SB: 3 Oblivion Ring
SB: 1 Oona, Queen of the Fae
SB: 3 Burrenton Forge-Tender
SB: 1 Sower of Temptation
SB: 3 Unsummon
SB: 1 Glen Elendra Archmage
SB: 3 Crib Swap

nofear: the combo is that the mage will persist back with a +1/+1 counter allowing it to counter any non creature spells played as long as they have enough blue mana open

the -1 -1 counter isn't removed after persist, it just has both counters 1 +1+1 and 1 -1-1, i think.

el_lupo, they changed that rule a while back. a +1/+1 counter will negate a -1/-1 counter with a ratio of 1:1.

Cursecatcher is the only 1cc drop and it helps to gain some tempo. Otherwise the deck would be too slow imo.

I'd like to play 2nd sygg and maybe even a couple of heavy dudes like oona but I can't find room for them.

Lark is anti-mass destruction and that job is taken by archmage.
