Any ideas? something under $60 that is fun to play different and somewhat competitive. I dont have to win tournaments, but maybe having really good matchups against some of the decks everyone else is playing.
any suggestions or am i asking for too much? |

How about this deck?
Cryptic command 4
Bitterblossom 4
Mutavault 4
Reflecting Pool 4
Figure of Destriny 4
Thoughtsieze 4
Shakhan Val 4
ect
lol
ok
for real.
I'd just make a simple aggro deck... White Weenie, without Figure of Destiny. or Red Deck Wins... Without Figure. You could try the WB Hybrid aggro deck(just all the hybrid White Black cards from eventide) that might be fun. |

Or Super Ultra Aggro Budget lol.
lets go with an aggro eventide deck like:
4 rhox war monk
4 g/u mimic
4 snakeform
4 hybrid enchant
and hybrid cards to maximise the aggro side. |

| since G/B cards are really cheap, i can imagine a G/B aggro with quillspike could be a fun budget deck |

i've been trying quillspike online, and its been sucking. for it to be viable it needs some thoughtseize, garruk, loxodon warhammer, and the dual lands which then runs it out of my budget...
i think w/b might be the way to go, gonna try testing that online |

There is also a Ug QD deck with Augury Adept, Coldeyed Selkie, Wistful Selkie, Silvergil Adept, and Ponder. The real down side is that you only have Negate, Unsummon, and Remove Soul for defense. You have no removal at all. If you have some money Wake Thrasher is nuts as well. Heck most of the time you don't even care about Wrath of God. The real trouble is with RDW and Kithkin. You must counter the token and pump spells. I play Finks in the main to help with RDW.
The deck is really good vs control. Bad vs RDW, Kithkin, and Discard. |

BW Zombies
Mono Green gung-ho
White Weenie / Kithkin
MRA
As always, when building a budget deck, replacing the expensive cards in expensive decks with cheaper alternatives is a bad option. It is better going with a deck that is optimized within the budget, than a sub-optimal "pro" deck.
If you already have Reflecting Pool, you could go with Bant tempodeck (GUW aggro), in that deck it is only the manabase which is expensive.
My favorite budget deck is Monored Elemental Shamans - it is very fast, fun to play and quite cheap. Only mutavaults are expensive, but you could always try to borrow them in these multicolour times...
4 Flamekin Harbinger
4 Smokebraider
4 Stigma Lasher
3 Ashling the Pilgrim
4 Incandescent Soulstoke
4 Rage Forger
4 Shock
4 Magma Spray
4 Incinerate
3 Flame Javelin
4 Mutavault
18 Mountain |

This U/R Hybrid deck honestly doesn't look great to me, but it got top 8 at Montana states.
Creatures
4 Crag Puca
3 Dominus Of Fealty
4 Hell's Thunder
1 Hostility
4 Noggle Bandit
4 Riverfall Mimic
4 Shrewd Hatchling
4 Stream Hopper
Enchantments
4 Clout Of The Dominus
Instants
4 Flame Javelin
4 Lash Out
Basic Lands
20 Mountain
If Hell's Thunder is too expensive a Boggart Ram-Gang or Ashenmoor Gouger would probably be nearly as good. |

U/B Kelpie deck.
River Kelpie
Shriekmaw
Mulldrifter
makeshift mannequin
Raven's Crime
Murderous redcap
Islands + swamps only and this deck will be under $30 for sure. Can add rares like sower of temptation, oona queen as you see fit. Memory Plunder is secret sb tech vs some decks. You've got counters like broken ambitions and cancel, both of which are commons and playable. If you don't like cancel and don't fear faeries, use faerie trickery instead.
Try out Soul Snuffer. It's good vs faeries. |

I used a Mono-Green Treefolk deck at Illinois States; about 165 people, and I got 27th; going into the last round, I was in 16th place, and two of the people I had played (one I beat, one I didn't) were above me, so my tiebreakers might have been good enough to actually make top 8 if I'd won my last round, but alas, a topdecked Profane Command stole my dreams...
1 Mosswort Bridge
20 Forest
4 Dauntless Dourbark
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Timber Protector
4 Treefolk Harbinger
4 Bosk Banneret
4 Chameleon Colossus
3 Leaf-Crowned Elder
3 Loxodon Warhammer
2 Rootgrapple
4 Rampant Growth
3 Gift of the Gargantuan
SB: 4 Kitchen Finks
SB: 3 Naturalize
SB: 1 Wickerbough Elder
SB: 3 Cloudthresher
SB: 1 Lignify
SB: 3 Guttural Response
The only expensive cards in there are the Cloudthreshers and the Chameleon Colossi; my matches at States (in order) were; 2-0 win vs. Exalted White Weenie, 2-1 win vs. Faeries, 2-0 win vs. Elves, 2-0 win vs. RDW (made top 8 ), 1-2 loss vs. Kithkin (made top 8 ), 1-2 loss vs. RDW, 2-1 win vs. Planeswalkers.dec, 1-2 loss vs. Elves.
I know the SB looks wierd, but the card choices and numbers are all tested and true. For more extensive information about my States matchups, card choices, and deck discussion, check out the MGA thread on TCGPlayer.com |

| A version of mono red is sure to be competitive with ur most expensive thing being demigod x4 if you choose to not run mutavaults which is fine with ghitus anyway. |

Mono W Kithkin is the best deck by far. Figure of Destiny is great but you can win without it. As far as the rare lands that in the deck you don't need them. So really it's a very $$$ friendly deck. If you have the $ for Figure of Destiny then get them. If not then Goldmeadow Stalwart is a fine replacement.
I just built the deck without the rare land or Figure of Destiny for about $50 with getting commons from a friend. That was with paying shipping and paying retail. So if you trade then you should be able to get the FoD. |
