ok this deck seems to work well i went 3-1 in swiss at a FNM event in miami last night......

the idea is drop sanity grind with a twincast 5th turn and try to control the board beforehand

4 shell-dock isle

3 jace
4 cryptic command
4 sanity grind
4 twincast
4 boomerang
4 broken ambitions
3 oona, queen of the fae
4 dream fracture
2 evacuation
4 negate

and im not gunna give you all the board but heres some
4 memory plunder
4 godhead of awe
4 remove soul
2 evuacation
1 lol(oona)

ok heres the list mws has been wanting weve been testing it for states and it hoses control but looses to aggor...this deck is hard to play right...dont get mad and toss it down..
we also tested oonas grace it was ok...mostly inconclusive tho.

I don't see how you're going to tap a Grimoire Thief other than attacking, which basically makes it useless. I think by turn 3, most decks are going to have something that is able to block and kill it.
Overbeing is nice for card draw.. but Godhead of Awe is way more useful.

you need something against aggro decks.

Is Grimoire Thief really worth using up another 4 slots for Drowner of Secrets? It would be unlikely to get both of those creatures out by say, turn 4 or 5, and if it takes longer than that, then it isn't worth it. If you want to throw in Drowner of Secrets you might as well throw in more Merfolk and turn it into a Merfolk mill deck (which sucks, since any type of creature removal ruins your game plan).

u win the dice roll, u go first vs Quick and Toast.... you play a thief turn 2. turn 3 you attack, turn 4 u attack. they block with finx. milled 8 cards. seems pretty good for a shitty card


and personally.... I would be playing godhead of awe.... just me though....

Drowner of Secrets with a total of 8 creature cards will not work. That is a terrible idea in a non-merfolk-mill deck. The thing about Grimoire Thief is that it is a decent 2-drop in a mono U deck, and it goes well with Sanity Grinding.

I think Evacuation and Boomerang vs aggro sould help in SB.
Vendilion Clique vs control or to get a primal command from the green decks.
Jace Beleren vs Control.
