This is my first post. Hopefully its ok to post at the magic league forum about real decks, not just decks for online play. And hopefully this is the part of the forum to do that...

This is my current landstill build. It's missing some additions that you would probably auto-include. This is a physical deck I actually own, so let me know what cards you think I should invest in to strengthen my deck.

it lacks the variety and multifacted approach many builds have nowadays. it is not very standard. but i like it because it is just vanilla and old school.

4x plows/4x wraths is awesome i think; i wrath away single wild mongrels and don't care...plow llanowar elves.... its ok ive got more removal. same with my counters. i have more than most landstill decks run (i believe). i dont worry if a spell is worth countering or not. i just counter everything, except for brainstorms and the like.

fact or fiction seemed too slow and counterable against threshold decks and other aggro/control. i also, and everyones going to crucify me here, do not like brainstorm. everytime i switch out my accumulated knowledges for brainstorms i end up losing more games in general than when before. whenever i brainstorm i just see more removal or counters... theres not much im searching for on the fly here.

please, opinions are welcome. feel free to berate me on my beliefs and/or card choices.

-what lands are the best choices for damage? i dont want to splash green for monasteries as i dont have money for dual lands to make that viable... is faerie conclave/mishra enough? outposts any good? or take them out?

-speaking of dual lands... until i get 4 tundras do you guys think im better off taking out the 4 coastals and 4 adarkars and replacing them with 4 islands and 4 plains? i feel a two color deck isnt really dying for duals that bad. i also find the outposts sitting in my hands often because of no plains to sacrifice. and/or should i drop the outposts?

ok now on to the decklist!

Card Advantage:
4x accumulated knowledge
1x fact or fiction
4x standstill

Counters:
4x absorb
4x counterspell
4x rune snag
3x force of will

Removal:
4x wrath of god
4x swords to plowshares

Stall:
2x humility (used to have two orim's prayers to create soft-lock on creatures. not worth it though right? good idea taking out the prayers?i replaced the 2x prayers with 1x FoF and 1x story circle)
1x story circle

Manlands:
1x faerie conclave
2x kjeldoran outpost
2x mishra's factory

Lands:
4x adarkar wastes
4x coastal tower
5x plains
6x islands

sideboard:
1x disenchant
1x arcane laboratory
2x morningtide (need to switch out for tormod's crypts)
1x CoP red
1x CoP green
4x gainsay
2x sacred ground (need to switch out for crucible of worlds)
2x blue elemental blast
1x enlightened tutor

cards on the way in the mail:
1x mishra's factory
1x crucible of worlds

performance:
i generally win at 2:1 against UG threshold, UBG threshold/tog, UB tog, GR burn/beats, mono black, sligh. these aren't very dominate deck types though so i guess i haven't really tested it yet against tier 1 decks.

thank you for your input all!

Hey i would like to first of all say that it is nice to see someone posting a semi budget actual deck on here Smile As for the deck i enjoy most of your choices. for example i also like accumulated over brainstorm because late game its far better and you dont run daze and only 3 forces. I would also bump the manland count up. something like 4 factory (if you can) and 3 conclave. Most of the decks ive played against also run crucible maindeck with wasteland but if you cant get the wastelands then keep it in the side. As for the wastes and costals changing to basics, it all depends on how often you run into wasteland. Or if you keep the nonbasics and run into wasteland often the crucibles might be better maindeck. As for your sideboard stifle or trickbind are very good against combo decks that go off turn one such as charbelcher or some other form of storm. And they cancel fetchlands in counter matchups against decks like threshold where canceling their fetch could keep them at one land and win you the game Smile I have played legacy for many years and would like to see how your unique build performs so let me know! good luck!

Looks pretty decent. Definetely run more man lands. I'd cut absorb (too much colored mana requirement) for spell snare (budget, and really good in legacy these days, everything good seems to cost 2). You're not going to make a turn 1 play anyway so it will be really good.
I wouldn't run coastal tower if you can help it, but I guess tundra or h.fountain are a bit too expensive.

needs decree of justice.

cut the outpost. saccing a land to have the outpost die to wasteland or pithing needle = not so good.

other suggestions cant be made unless i know what type of decks your facing.

if your facing a real metagame with real decks (like goblins, combo, thresh, painters savant decks, fish, and the like) then switch out the absorb to the spell snare stated before.

But if youre playing a metagame with random bad decks absorb is probally better.

You can play another conclave

Your sideboard is absolutely horrible...

1 random enlightened tutor with none maindeck is bad.

i would suggest playing 3-4 of each card in your sideboard, and pick cards that will help you beat the decks in your local area. Your sideboard is VERY important. you play the majority of your games with a sideboard, so actually make it worth wild. Think about which decks you'll play againt and have cards that beat it. but im not sure what your metagame is, so i cant really say whats best.

another opition is to play cunning wish main and have a wish board (which can have 1x enlightened tutor and 1-2 enchantments(like teferis moat or something)

getting your 4th force of will and 4th mishras factory would be good.

brainstorm sucks in your deck. the only reason people play it is because the fetchlands can shuffle your bad cards back into your deck and it basically says "draw three cards, get rid of two crappy ones", so pretty much AK is better unless you spend the money on fetchlands (would get them after tundras..but deltas and strands are expensive) you could always play intution to get 3 ak, and then you can draw three then four if you already had one in your hand.

Stifle is a very good card, should be in main or at least some in the sideboard.

I am pretty sure the author wants a WU ctrl deck, not a more or less run of the mill 4c landstill deck.

UW standstill is vastly inferior to others of its ilk. Remove standstill in favor of other card draw.

Rune snag is also strictly inferior to spell snare and to a lesser extent: mana leak.

If you are ballin' on a budget, you might as well drop the coastal towers and add more basics/fetch and drop additional non-basics for more non-basics and run back to basics, which is absolutely amazing.

Story circle is also strictly inferior to its more focused and less coloured mana intensive cousins(cops). If you want that deck to look more like the dtb wu ctrl, you should consider adding some three tutors in the main deck along with a counter base that is more effective in the early game and drop extra counter spells like absorb for more effective answers.

WU is one of the control decks that is better suited to run an enlightened tutor toolbox, so I suggest that you take advantage of that.

Accumulated knowledge, while neat to play the third copy of a game is not great for what you need to be doing.

I'd suggest a WU control deck that looks something like this:

1 eternal dragon

4 force of will
4 counterspell
4 spell snare

4 wrath of god
4 swords to plowshares

3 enlightened tutor
2 humility
2 back to basics
1 relic of the progentus
1 seal of cleansing
2 decree of justice

3 Fact or Fiction
4 Brainstorm

4 tundra
4 flooded strand
6 plains
8 island

Or something to that effect. I dunno. If you want to play landstill, play landstill that is three or more colours, if you want to play UW ctrl, look at the WU decks to beat on deckcheck or something.

When I looked at your build, I saw a deck that couldn't decide whether it wanted to be landstill, UW or MUC. If you want to run sixteen counters, you will save you will be able to build a far better and less expensive deck if you go with a permanent-based MUC deck.

Back to Basics is definetely a winner. Many tier1 decks just flat out lose if you resolve that.
