The basis of the deck is to give everything and anything persist with the cauldron and then sack it off to make a big creature.
I haven't tried Makeshift, but the point of bringing a creature back in this deck is to feed it to either of the Thrash guys or the Mycoloth. So targeting with a devour would just kill it.
I haven't tried Profane Command either, but I would most likely use it for the fear or -X/-X and not the creature recursion. I like the gravediggers because thier ability triggers if they persist into play. |

Mycoloth doesn't target any creature. the devour ability just looks to see if you sacrificed a creature for the ability. |

I was worried about having 2 drops, because I should be able to start sacking creatures for devour by turn 3. I will see how it affects the deck though,
Thanks |

what about the devour 2 dragon with haste fying for 3RRR cc? could be a better win condition
or possibly rites of flourishing it can be deadly with a 11/11 thorn thrash elder
and i totally like dragon fodder for this especially the turn 3 devour |

The Cauldron of Souls strategy is really bad. The reason is that casting a Devour creature while having 2 mana untapped and 2+ creatures on the board is perhaps a wet dream, but it is highly unlikely to ever occur.
I agree that Dragon Fodder should be in there. So should other token-producing cards like Hunting Triad be.
2 Mycoloth
4 Skullmulcher
4 Thorn-Trash Viashino
3 Civic Wayfinder
4 Kitchen Finks
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
3 Garruk Wildspeaker
4 Hunting Triad
4 Dragon Fodder
I think token production is more important than creating card advantage by getting non-token creatures back from graveyard. Hunting Triad plus Skullmulcher is already nice card advantage. |

Why do you say I need 2 mana untapped? Cauldron just taps for persist, and devour doesn't cost anything but creatures? I can understand the Dragon Fodder, but i prefer cards like SafeHaven Elf and Kitchenfinks because they keep coming back for more.
As for the token production, Mycoloth makes alot of tokens if and when it stays alive, and Sproutin Thrinax makes 3 tokens whenever it dies, and with in this deck creatures dying isn't exactly a bad thing
The Cauldron may be a little off the wall, but so far the deck is running like a charm. It has a slight problem againts mass removal in early game, but its done a good job at recovering. Right now the deck is about 10-4,
Thank you for your imput though, I do appreciate it |

My bad, I thought Cauldron was that instant spell for 1G/W. The 5-mana artifact is absolutely horrible and shouldn't be played in any deck, even in Limited. Hunting Triad must be much much better! |

I politly disagree, at the very worst it is a giant bulls eye. There are very few people that main deck artifact hate, even in this format. It has proven incredible useful in this deck so far, but thank you for your input, I do appreciate it |
