| We are proud to announce that on the nearest Sunday, at the usual master time (noon EST) we will host a tournament sponsored by mtgoverextended.com.
This is a great opportunity to connect the communities of Magic-League and mtgoverextended.com. The tournament will be preceded by a saturday trial, so you can test your decks. All trial tournaments this week will give byes to the master, just like for a regular master. Whoever made this up just banned the crap out of dredge and left affinity untouched.
And banning Minds Desire makes me sad :(
Oh and of course Elves with GSZ is fair as well, compared to the irrational Dredge fear.
But i guess they pay so its their rules

moscowdemon on 2011-06-20 18:14 CET the ban for affinty was disciple. tho that still doesnt stop them. i feel like it was just him wanting to ban what he didnt like. mind's desire could be a restricted card if you wanted as that would stop the immense combo and make it harder at times. he banned way way way too much dredge stuff for no reason and im not even a dredge player. but elves is the way im going if i play it.

As for the dredge bannings, I completely agree that they were overboard. I've already announced that 1-2 of the cards will be banned at the next banned and restricted update.
Cards are not restricted in non-Vintage formats, so that wasn't really an option with Desire.
The format has been played pretty extensively, and nothing - including Elves, Affinity, etc - has proved dominant after 3 weeks of 50+ people events. Beatdown, control, and combo are all doing well. You can find all of the decklists on the site if you'd like.
