Judge Test Reset

by Laplie on 2008-04-28 13:55 MDT
Another three months, another judge test reset....

As usual, there are a few requirements before you can take the test:
  • Have been registered at least 30 days in the League.

  • Have played in at least 3 tournaments

  • Not requested a test since the last reset

The test is not easy so I recommend studying/preparing beforehand. Every single reset I tell people to study and they do not listen. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!!

Comprehensive for studying BEFORE taking the test: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=magic/rules

Do not take the test while you are distracted by other things (and make sure to pace yourself so you don't run out of time).

Reminders:
  • Just giving a number without an explanation is still wrong.

  • Yes/no answers are still wrong.

  • Do not give irrelevant rulings. Irrelevant ruling + correct answer may still be considered wrong

  • Make sure that the answer is coherent. If we cannot understand your correct answer, it can't be considered correct.

  • No outside materials means: NO RULEBOOKS, NO OTHER PEOPLE, NO ONLINE SEARCHES, NO ANYTHING EXCEPT YOUR RULES KNOWLEDGE

Happy Testing,
Laplie

So you think you have what it takes to be a judge?

PS Make sure to EXPLAIN your answers. A simple yes or no is not adequate. (I also say this every time, and every time people respond with 1 word answers.)

....

PPS EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWERS COMPLETELY AND DO NOT JUST WRITE YES/NO

Damn, I failed...

Sometimes my problem is that judges don't understand my answers. :/

by SteveMan on 2008-04-28 16:26 MDT

I was lying when I said I failed.

by cm_ on 2008-04-29 03:32 MDT

SteveMan, you failed.

How do you know people don't use outside sources?

Experience.

It takes about 2-14 days to get the result. In the beginning it probably takes longer, as there are more tests to check.

Also, make sure you site e-mail address is valid so you actually receive that e-mail!

@ Lynolf

"Make sure that the answer is coherent. If we cannot understand your correct answer, it can't be considered correct."

by Lynolf on 2008-05-01 12:41 MDT

I understand that answers need to be coherent and everything. And I always try to make them as more coherent as possible. But sometimes I have a feeling that still judges don't understand them. Or maybe it is actually my fault. If it were a way to let us know where and in which questions we have failed, I would be happier, because I would know where I was wrong and try to improve it next time. That is my real problem. Isn't there a way to know it?

by gypsy on 2008-05-01 22:10 MDT

its hard to tell people which questions they got wrong because, you can then help your friends if they get the same question and then they would have to write a lot more questions each time if they are going to tell people where they went wrong

by Hellpoet on 2008-05-20 12:12 MDT

An idea would be to post answers to the questions after every time you reset. After each time you reset you use new Scenarios/cases for the questions.
