Judge Test Reset

by Laplie on 2007-10-23 19:11 MDT
Another three months, another judge test reset....

As usual, there are a few requirements before you can take the test:
  • Have been registered at least 30 days in the League.

  • Have played in at least 3 tournaments

  • Not requested a test since the last reset

The test is not easy so I recommend studying/preparing beforehand. Every single time there is a reset, I tell people to study and they do not listen. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!!

Do not take the test while you are distracted by other things (and make sure to pace yourself so you don't run out of time).

Reminders:
  • Just giving a number without an explanation is still wrong.

  • Yes/no answers are still wrong.

  • Do not give irrelevant rulings.

  • Make sure that the answer is coherent.

  • No outside materials means: NO RULEBOOKS, NO OTHER PEOPLE, NO ONLINE SEARCHES, NO ANYTHING EXCEPT YOUR RULES KNOWLEDGE

Happy Testing,
Laplie

So you think you have what it takes to be a judge?

PS Make sure to EXPLAIN your answers. A simple yes or no is not adequate. (I also say this every time, and every time people respond with 1 word answers)

I <3 Laplie

BTW, be sure to seriously not cheat, and if you do your rules knowledge will be tested in the #Judges4You chat room and it will be apparent that YOU do not know what you are talking about.

This warning is given out each time there is a reset, but it always seems not everyone believes it.

Another peice of advice - dont answer the question featuring gfo

by MistyFatDog on 2007-10-24 00:03 MDT

thats not what i heard you wrote ds, but then agian you arent a judge anymore :-/

by Daveslusher- on 2007-10-24 04:43 MDT

this is coming from someone who has taken this test before and passes. STUDY it is much much harder than previous versions.

by CMA-Flippi on 2007-10-24 07:24 MDT

I'd also suggest you to read the questions and cards in the test questions..carefully

by Ro on 2007-10-24 09:37 MDT

Why, Flippi? "Pie" isn't a good answer?

by yeawaffels on 2007-10-24 15:02 MDT

by tg on 2007-10-24 22:56 MDT

diaf all? ... jk xD

by DS_McWerp on 2007-10-25 01:09 MDT

I don't really remember exactly what I wrote. It was like three months ago.

by thedarkness on 2007-10-25 09:31 MDT

It's not all basic knowledge..I got at least one of them right, but I got three questions on a subject which I am exceedingly shaky with.

I think there was a point to my writing this, but I can't remember what it was. :(

And I finished reading the comp rules for the second time about..15 seconds before taking the test..and have since read them again..

In regards to outside references:

It's not that hard to tell if an answer that you gave came from another source (some of us deal with this for a living). When (not if) you are caught, very bad things will happen to you.

Ok, i will break down the way magic-league works with the judge test. 1) it is not the joke of a test everyone thinks it is. 2) If you know nothing about the rules dont waste yours and the Judge managers time. 3)Most the questions will seem Way to easy, those are the questions you need to reread. 4) dont answer any question featuring Gfo in it, they are usually their to trick you. 5) taking your time is key,you need to remember your timed though. 10 questions and 35 mins seems like alot of time. You will be surprised when your thinking about an answer or trying to type out the answer.

As Always so you know, passing the J1 doesnt mean your a J1. I believe they have the interview policy Gfo and I mentioned months ago, plus having a clean background with m-l is always a plus.

by TheDarkMan on 2007-10-25 17:55 MDT

I've taken the test before and come very close to passing. Unfortunately I don't have much time for m-l this season, so I won't be taking the test again for awhile anyway. I do know, however, that they test things that ARE NOT common knowledge, and it is a good idea to STUDY.

And I don't understand. Aren't we supposed to answer all the questions? If we skip ones with gfo in them, don't we get them wrong automatically?

Passed without studying.

by sky_savage on 2007-10-30 23:16 MDT

From what I remember about the test when I took it where cards are during resolution of abilities and spells seemed to be important.

by Ro on 2007-11-10 01:07 MDT

Greetings Ro, Your J1 Test has been graded by the Judges Department and your result is:8/10 which means you have passed the Magic-League J1 Test. You will soon get a 2nd mail with further details if the Judge Director approves you. Regards, The Magic-League Judge Department.

Without studying! :D So my advice is don't study you'll pass!

Better tip is: Don't cheat, got caught in august =! good
