| This week magic players are able to vote for a fan favorite to attend the Magic Invitational. One of the candidates is our own PV; we encourage (but cannot force) you to vote for him. Good luck Paulo!
A statement from PV: Hi! Most of you know me, if not personally then because I am always in the mIRC channels, whether I'm playing in tournaments or not. As most of you know, I'm currently in the "Fan Favorite" Invitational ballot. Plain and simple, I'm here to ask you to vote for me. I know that some of you have friends in the ballots, and you might want to vote for them, regardless of them having a chance to win or not - let's be honest there, more than half the people don't have a shot. I do, however. So, if you don't have anyone to vote for yet, or if you aren't really decided, I'd like you to vote for me. You have no idea of how much it means to me to be there, and I'd be really glad if I had the chance to go. I also believe that, league or not, I'm really worthy of it. I'm one of the five level 6s in the world, having gone to one GP - there isn't anyone else in the world who can claim that. I also happen to be very accessible, and you can ask the league on that - I always take my time to reply to whatever I'm asked (even if the answer is truly "I don't know"), and I believe I'm quite unique in that aspect - after all, who else on the ballot you can talk to anytime you want? Who is always there with the non-pros? Who plays in the same league you do, and uses the results there to t8 PTs? Who mentions magic-league in Pro Tour t8 interviews? That's right, me. I'm obviously not charging the league and it's people for any of that - the league itself has paid me back many times with decks, results, leisure and a lot of friends, many of which I got to meet in the tournaments I go. Voting for me or not, I'll always stay here, as I've always done, because it is really a good thing for me. I merely want to point out that I'm a normal person like you, that goes to the same places you do, and not enveloped in a bubble that puts me away from the PTQ players. That said, I appreciate any votes or support, though I'll try to understand if you want to vote for someone else ;) |

There are some people who don't have a shot at winning. Everybody knows it. LSV and Paul cheon, for ex, are awesome, great guys, I really really like them, but they are not winning this ballot.

NahHolmes on 2007-08-17 00:25 MDT The funny thing this post points to that is true is that Magic "Pros" often think of themselves as stars becuase there are maybe 2000 people in the world nerdy enough to know who they are. I met a "Pro" once, he was basically like "don't you know who I am?", I was like, "yeah you're a dork, my friends told me you play Magic for a living." Then we all laughed in his face. Think you're the shit because you are on a "Pro Card" haha, weakness.

Due to his mean comments directed towards PV, a JAJAJA death squad raided NahHolmes house early this morning. After an interview with a witness, we learned that they hit squad came in with razor sharp MTG cards and zinged them with amazing accarcy killing NahHolmes.

I'd much rather hear a little about the guy and his success at the game instead of him saying, "OMG VOAT 4 ME PLZZZZZ!11" and that's it.
If you're going to vote for someone (for anything) or hire someone, or do anything that requires you choosing a person over someone else, don't you want to hear from them why they think they are the best candidate?

Those good players stay locked away from "the rest of us" and tend to ridicule the ptq level players for bad play, bad decks, etc, etc. instead of trying to be helpful. 1) You retain your loyalty to M-L. You continue to come here and play, give advice, etc , and know your roots. Well, maybe not your "roots" but you know what I mean. Don't be a Julien Nut-on-Chin and ditch the league after you make it big (one hit wonder imo). I know you are already on your way and still loyal to M-L, but just don't forget about it/us.
2) Wear a MAGIC-LEAGUE.COM t-shirt to the invitational. Even if its just a cheap white shirt with "magic-league.com" painted on it with sponge letters.
Those are my stipulations for my vote. Well, number 2 isn't really, but it would be cool. But number 1 is a necessity.
And as for people talking about PV being full of himself: who isn't? Especially you NahHolmes. You really have NO room to talk. And PV is right about the votes. Its just like voting in the US. You have Bush/Kerry/Nader etc running. You know only Bush (sadly) or Kerry are going to win. Voting for Nader really isn't going to do anything. Sure, it may make you feel better, and "I have an opinion and it counts!"...but sadly that opinion only counts for any significants if enough people have to same opinion.

PV on 2007-08-20 00:13 MDT well, about being "loyal" to magic-league... I already said I'm not going to leave this place, not because of loyality but simply because I have way too many friends here and it's a great way to playtest and such, I have no reason or interest to leave anytime soon :P
I can't blame julien for leaving, though - he found what he thought to be a better place to playtest and moved there, it's not about not being loyal or something.
I cannot promise a t-shirt, though - I'll gladly wear a magic-league t-shirt in GPs - I've said that already too, but they don't ship them to brazil :( - but the invitational is another thing. There are lots of people supporting me, including the brazilian league, and it wouldn't do to wear the t-shirt of one of them IMO
