Judge Test Reset

by Laplie on 2007-07-23 19:19 MDT
Another three months, another judge test reset....

As usual, there are a few requirements before you can take the test:
  • Have been registered at least 30 days in the League.

  • Have played in at least 3 tournaments

  • Not requested a test since the last reset

The test is not easy so I recommend studying/preparing beforehand. Every single time there is a reset, I tell people to study and they do not listen. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!!

Do not take the test while you are distracted by other things (and make sure to pace yourself so you don't run out of time).

Happy Testing,
Laplie

So you think you have what it takes to be a judge?

PS Make sure to EXPLAIN your answers. A simple yes or no is not adequate. (I also say this every time, and every time people respond with 1 word answers)

First!

Also a question: Is it ok to use sources (web sites like the comprehensive rules and gatherer for example) that are also available when you're handling a ruling?

by ZeMuppet on 2007-07-24 05:12 MDT

I don't think it is.

by FlyingFreak on 2007-07-24 06:01 MDT

who will control you ? :p

by ShadowMaster on 2007-07-24 06:30 MDT

As far as I know judges are interviewed in some way prior to receiving their status on the site. If you cheat on the exam, your misses will show up sooner or later along the way and it will be ugly.

No outside sources are allowed whatsoever. This is also explained right before you take the test.

well whatever, nobody will control you :p, but it's ofcourse lame to cheat in such a small test ....

Well I think I'll search my rulebook :p (to study not to cheat :p)

just out of curiosity, why is the ml test harder than the DCI lvl 1 test?

by niknight on 2007-07-24 18:00 MDT

the DCI test is multiple choice, so if you have no clue what the answer is, you've still got a 1/4 chance.

You should add questions Specific to m-l, I mean, situation due of internet.

Exemple: my oppenent misclicked and drew a card and did another move after, so he can't undo last card, what happen?

Answer: The player put his hand onto the table and his opponent choose and put a card from his hand and put it into owners library and shuffle

Prove: 132. Drawing Extra Cards: A player draws a card when they shouldn’t have. If the draw is traceable (when a player puts a card back it says "Player puts card #5 to library") then the player puts the card back on top of their deck, shows their opponent, and shuffles their deck (only if library order is unknown). MWS draws are always traceable via the Action --- Undo Last Draw option. If the draw is untraceable, the player does the same as above, but with a card selected by his or her opponent. If this was intentional, see section 151 Cheating - Fraud

A lot of judges don't know this kind of rules and it's a huge part of being a judge in Magicl-league.

Thanks

I just took the test for the first time, it was a bit easier than I expected (first time though, and haven't taken the dci test). Just have a question.

Are there many questions that are possibly given, and 10 are randomnly picked for each person? Are those questions cleared after every period of time until another re-testing?

by Ro on 2007-07-25 01:36 MDT

Hmm I thought I did fairly well, however 5/10 is a result to be ashamed of. :(

by Chico_Ze on 2007-07-25 07:03 MDT

I have a question.

When does the test loses effect?

by Laplie on 2007-07-25 13:15 MDT

"Are there many questions that are possibly given, and 10 are randomnly picked for each person? Are those questions cleared after every period of time until another re-testing?"

There is a pool of 150-200 questions, each with an assigned difficulty. A test is created by randomly picking a set number of questions from each difficulty.

From reset to reset questions are added and removed from the pool, and in some cases the difficulty ranking of a question is changed. Some questions are removed from the pool only to be readded months later.

The test is usually open up until a week before the next reset (when we usually make major changes). You can take the test at most once before a new reset takes effect.

How long till we can expect results or an announcement?

Also will you be told if you dont pass or are not accepted?

by TheDarkMan on 2007-07-25 16:12 MDT

Dang, I never took it last time around. Might not this time either...

by Alex on 2007-07-26 05:33 MDT

Fanboy:

1) You should get results within a week. In the same mail it is mentioned if you passed or failed.

2) If you passed you need to wait for a 2nd mail and/or a Judge to contact you in IRC.
